This is truly fascinating. Whether or not one believes that Bush ever made the comment about the French having no native word for "entrepreneur", if he did make the comment, he was right, perhaps not literally but definitely figuratively. In French, an entrepreneur is the eqivalent of a contractor. Not very glamorous, you know? In reality, it is true that the French have no single word that describes the English equivalent of "entrepreneur". Check out the brief story below:
