I think we'd all be better off if we simply focused on our own families. You can not judge another person without having walked a mile in their shoes. And we cannot and should not try to legislate morality. We should be concerned about our own children what they watch, read, listen to, and who they hang out with, but we shouldn't preach to them or other parents. Just because a belief in God and the Bible works for some, doesn't mean it will work for all.

I think there's a good balance to be achieved somewhere--concerning yourself over your own, while at the same time being mindful of other families struggles and needs. This does not mean to impose your own standards of morality onto them; instead, be focused on the goals of the larger "family community" without sacrificing individuality or personal beliefs.

Also, keep in mind that what may be best for other families may not be the best option for your family! Each family structure is unique and this diversity should be honored and cherished. =)

Given the enormous amount of hypocrisy of those that "focus on the family", i think all people should worry about themselves and and not try and tell people how to live. When people do spend thier lives telling people how to live, you end up with the Oral Roberts scandel. Dobson and his incest parties. Haggard doing drugs and having secret gay sex. The Bakers. Vitter. Newt having an affair while trying to bust clinton for the same thing. Craig in the mens room. and so on and so forth. Those that try and tell others how to live do so because they themselves cannot practice what they preach.

My family.

Good question. The immediate needs of my family are what I focus on. I don't have much time or energy left over, to judge other's who I have no control over, anyway.
