This is America. More people shop on "Black Friday" then go to church on Christmas Eve. We live in a country where kids recognize the picture of Santa Claus more so then Jesus. But I'm called "confused" because I don follow any religion. Really, don't say there's an attack on Christmas on the news then show a commercial for $60,000 dollar Lexus wrapped in a bow.
The meaning of Christmas has been lost way before the PC term Happy Holiday came about.
I still celebrate it for the good that comes out of it but that doesn't mean I'm for any religion.

Why do you think we dislike religion?!
We get badgered into buying expensive gifts from retailers that start at Halloween (!) for people we don't like.
People even go into debt celebrating a holiday that the Christians lifted from earlier religions ( people in the Northern Hemisphere have been celebrating the Winter Solstice for millenia before anyone even heard of Jesus, Mary and Joseph).
Did you have to bring that up? Kind of a sore topic...

Many who are "for religion" do not celebrate Christmas.

I celebrate Christmas as a time for family and friends not as the birth date for a mythical figure.

Christmas is a pagan holiday appropriated by the Catholic Church in the 4th century. There is NO evidence that Jesus was born on December 25th (the traditional birthday of god-men in the Mystery Cults), or AT ALL, for that matter.

The question is is Christmas still a religious holiday or a celebration of consumerism?

everyone celebrates Christmas... because its Christmas.
I'm not greatly religous, but I'm quite a traditionalist... and since I live in Britain, which used to be a Christian country... I wish everyone a merry Christmas

Kind of like those that are pro-religion supporting Bush invading Iraq and killing innocent mean, women and children for PNAC (and lying about Iraq planning to nuke the US). Hard to believe any real Christian could support Bush. Right?
