If tornado / hurricane / wildfire / tsunami scours your house from it's foundation and takes half your state infrastructure with it...do you have the means to treat your own wounds, travel out of the area and make a new home elsewhere that day?

In other words - do you have Personal Responsibility and want your dollar back?

This vote is on the Dream Act to provide free higher education to illegals instead of sending the funds to our troops and providing National Security!

Are they voting today?

Why is Education for Illegals in the Defense Budget to begin with? Are they trying to be sneaky about providing amnesty for voting age illegals?

The actual quote is:

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Liberals like to remove the words "essential" and "a little temporary."

We know our founding fathers didn't overextend the Executive branch for a reason. We are supposed to elect "Representatives" who represent our ideas. (So they must watch what the US citizenry wants to run a good government)
Bush Sr., though I'm a Democratic voter, was a good president because he watched the poles and tried to do what Americans wanted. However, we wanted a strong leader. Strong leaders are for totalitarian regimes, not for Democratic-Republics. If you vote a "leader" we the people loose all say once they're in office.
So, why do Americans want an idealistic leader and not a representative to be our next President?

Since that pig anus Osama Binladen has joined with his swine lover "doctor" in calling for the death of Musharraf, how is "our friend" going to keep feeding these animals while pretending to be our "ally?" Does anyone else see this as the basic conflict of interest that trapped "our friends" the Saudis in the late '90s/earch 2000s?

Black water is a private security firm empowered by President Bush. They have power over the state police and are licensed to kill where ever they operate including here in America. They answer to no law enforcement or government authority
They are operating in several American States. How safe are we? What connection will Bush have with Black water after his term in office ends?
Will he take over the security firm?
Does anybody else see this as a repeat of history?
Does anybody see the president as an extremely dangerous threat to the stabilty of America's future? Should Blackwater and firms like it be outlawed?

40-50 million people pay no health insurance premiums currently .
That means that 250 million people have coverage provide by the government or private insurance .
Now just because you can not call a doctors office and make an appointment does not mean that you can not go to the county hospital and sit in the waiting room for a day and be seen by a doctor and get medication prescribed by the doctor for free.
This means that the 40-50 million people who do not have Insurance are getting care .

Now it seems that all the democrat reformers of the medical industry are trying to get the government to come in and make it a tax issue rather then a choice issue .

SO by going to universal health care people who have no insurance today will be forced through a tax to pay for part of this care .

SO what democrats are trying to do is make those who have not had to pay so far for medical care to pay by taxing them .

So the democrats want the poor to chip in by taxing them for it .

Is there a general lack of respect and civility in our country? I thought the student at UF showed a tremendous lack of respect toward a United States Senator. And I notice it here as well. Philosophical disagreement has turned into general stereotyping and name calling.
IF you think there is, is this a downward spiral, or will respect and civility EVER come back?
BTW: I do not exclude myself as a small part of the problem in this forum, so I am not trying to be "preachy"!!
Just Curious.
Thanks!

I wonder why the poor people who have free medical care now would complain .

I bet they are not complaining .

I bet its the insurance companies who have to pay increasing bill amounts .

Yes Hillary is in league with the billion dollar insurance companies who feel as if they are forced to pay to cover the services the poor get for free now .

We all know that nothing is free so those bills to insurance and those who pay cash pay a little bit more to cover those who can not pay or do not have insurance .

I like the system fine right now .

Everyone is getting care .

I feel bad for people being ripped off by insurance companies but oh well you could always drop your coverage and get the free care .

I do not want to read ONE MORE POST about how "unpopular" this Congress is, or how the "Democratically controlled Congress" is not "doing anything."

The Republicans in Congress ARE BLOCKING legislation designed to give troops more leave time.

Are you getting that? THE REPUBLICANS ARE BLOCKING.

Senate Republicans block Iraq bill
By Susan Cornwell Wed Sep 19, 7:59 PM ET
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Senate Republicans blocked a plan on Wednesday to give U.S. troops in Iraq more home leave, defeating a proposal widely seen as the Democrats' best near-term chance to change President George W. Bush's Iraq strategy.

The measure to give troops as much rest time at home as they spent on their most recent tour overseas needed 60 votes to pass in the Democratic-controlled Senate; it received just 56 votes, with 44 against.

We've been providing a quality political education to some of the slow children of aging hippies and other liberals for some time now, without being compensated for our experience, insight, wisdom, knowledge and patience. Maybe we need to join the teachers union (first order of business would be to reform it) and then demand payment at the university level for our efforts. As Shakespeare so wisely said, "There ain't no free lunch,"

CAIRO, Egypt - Osama bin Laden will release a new message soon declaring war on Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, al-Qaida announced Thursday.

The announcement of the upcoming message came as al-Qaida released a new video in which bin Laden's deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri, boasted that the United States was being defeated in Afghanistan, Iraq and other fronts.
