Maybe, if you don't count that last 7 years that brought us outstanding incompetence and corruption in the republican party, because they have been a driving force in making the Democratic party more appealing.

Over the last 25 years the Democrat party has become more and more anti-capitalist. (Openly that is, they've been rank socialists since the '70s.) They've played along with capitalistic policies, because public sentiment forced them to, but they are now seriously emerging as the collectivestist/redisributionist gang that they are. Groups like Moveon.org are seeing to it that the Dems become more radical than ever, which means they are becoming more anti-capitalist than ever.
This is a free-market, capitalist nation, and EVERYONE, including some of the loudest mouthed Dems, and Hollywood super dupes, loves living that way.
Therefore, yes, prosperity for America is bad news for Dems, and when election campaigns begin in earnest, you will see that they have lost a lot of appeal. More appeal, actually, than current "pundits" think.

as the first responder stated, considering the strongest economic climate of the last 25 years came with a democratic president I think the question itself is redundant and or obtuse...
as for our prosperity, unless you are in the top 2% you have been sold a bill of goods (bads) .... I just came back from a month long Euro business trip where I spent a good amount of time in the UK and Germany.. I will tell you that our european counterparts are taking bets on when our next depression will begin.... what are they seeing that you are not...
ps... I am successful, But I haven't made so much that I have turned off my mind.... what is your excuse?

I think the Democrats in the party have diminished the appeal. The ones left are left wing liberal loonies. Fence sitters and conservatives have either abandoned the party or have been forced out.
Most Americans are generally conservative, although they might not like to use the "C" word. Less and less people are buying the Democrats' message.

Yeah. Sure.
That's why they won a majority in the '06 elections, and according to most analysts, are poised to take the White House in '08.
Nice logic. Or wishful thinking?

Only to the intelligent and observant. The rest of the party just blindly carries on business as usual, while the Republicans continue to do well financially.
