This vote is on the Dream Act to provide free higher education to illegals instead of sending the funds to our troops and providing National Security!

Are they voting today?

Why is Education for Illegals in the Defense Budget to begin with? Are they trying to be sneaky about providing amnesty for voting age illegals?

These Senators Still Waffling on Vote on DREAM Amnesty

2007-09-20 02:44:03 · update #1

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:H.R.1585:

The DREAM Act, previously S.774, has been introduced as an amendment to H.R. 1585, National Defense Authorization Act (Defense Authorization Bill) as SA 2237, Title XXXIII (National Defense Stockpile), Sec. 3301 (Authorized Uses Of National Defense Stockpile Funds). It is number 254 of 353 proposed amendments.

Who but our corrupt and pandering senators would think of incorporating the DREAM Act into “stockpile” provisions buried at the end of the lengthy Defense Bill?

They desperately want to change the electorate, which has been rejecting their ideas, for years. One way to do it is to create new voters. For the Dems, the only way to keep power is to dilute and change the electorate!!!

Among their schemes are creating new citizens via "amnesty", giving themselves extra votes on House committees by appointing illegitimate "representatives" from U.S. colonies *like Puerto Rico, Guam, etc.), stealing elections (e.g. state of Washington Governor), overriding legislatures and Constitutional restrictions via activist judges, and attacking potential opponents via entrapment (Larry Craig, etc.) and via phony lawsuits (the Valerie Plame nonsense, etc.). Without such tactics, they were headed for the ash heap of history (after having lost the "Solid South"), and it is the only way they can cling to power, as a political party (since they have no guiding principles, and are made up of a bunch of unrelated special-interest groups)

The Democrats, with their control of 49 Senate seats, are desperately trying to protect themselves from becoming the permanent minority party (as it should have become after their decisive rejection by the voters in 1994, and after Bill Clinton's disatrous rule and non-legacy).

Since 1641, taxation without representation has been a no no. It was the basis of the American Revolution and is in our Constitution (but was overridden by the 13th Amendment). BTW - Aliens can't vote Why then, would an alien who pays into social security (even illegally) not be covered by it, or be due a refund? An illegal alien becomes a U.S. resident for tax purposes after spending 183 days in the U.S. One does not need to have a green card to be a resident (otherwise why would anyone get one?) This is by international treaty and is the basis for taxing them. Personally, I'd like to see them have to "buy in" to social security by contributing double the usual rate for the first five years of residence. There is no constitutional objection as social security is not property and not an insurance policy (see Flemming v. Nestor). Social Security is a tax and a benefit which congress may eliminate at any time.

Slip it in under the radar. These idiot do it all the time. The problem for them this time is they've been caught in their dirty work of doing an end-run!

I heard they are voting next week but it is not expected to get cloture. Why can't these idiots get it through their thick skulls that Americans DON'T WANT THIS! It's not just giving the kids amnesty. It's allowing all the family member attached to those kids amnesty. Besides there are so many exceptions to the requirements (e.g., they don't HAVE to graduate from high school).

Everything that Congress does is sneaky, these types of actions need to be voted on by the people, my guess is that if a poll were take in each state the Dream Act would fail.

Why should illegal immigrants get a free college education when the American citizens have to pay thousands to educate their own children.

Perhaps we need to send our Congress men and women emails and make phone calls and tell them NO, we do not support this. It worked with the Immigration Reform Act and we can make it work for the Dream Act.

Backdoor legislation at its best. We the people said hell no to amnesty. They changed the name and tacked it on to a defense spending bill to fool us.
Dems want new voters(power) and repubs want cheap labor. They could care less what we the people want.
Notice the lack of media coverage- there is a reason the "congress' has the lowest recorded rating ever.

You want American traitors, look to your Senators, they should be tarred and feathered. It is the same bunch who tried to pass the amnesty bill, well they are still doing it under the guise of other bills, "traitors all of them" they will not stop unless Americans take to the streets.

Their doing exactly what they said they wouldn't do in all of their "100 First Hours" speeches: introduce pork! That's all it is. Appeasement of the few who support their views to sustain support for the Dem party. It's going to backfire on them and they are going to loose, bigtime.

Get a better source of news.
The "Dream Act" only applies to children already raised in the US and graduated from US High School. The lack of citizenship has to be derived from the refusal of the - legal resident - parents application for citizenship.
They are not eligible for grants - so you are mistaken. Only student loans.
The act provides 6 years of student/military residency, followed by citizenship upon completion of a college degree.

It has been attached to several bills, and has consistently failed to pass, including this year
