So given the fact that most of us ARE interested in a middle ground strategy, I'm going to do my part. America in its heart is all about put up or shut up right? Beginning soon I'll be publishing a site to accumulate as many opinions as possible from as many Americans as possible to truly try to find a balance. Don't worry, I know how deeply extremist people sometimes burn out, so you'll be able to update your opinions as well. I used the word manifesto glibly, and I'm sure we're going to hear a much from people about religion but I am sorry, all rational people in all walks of life advocate a separation of the church and the state. If I'm wrong I'll soon know with certainty. What shall this report be titled? Any suggestions?

The US is too big and we should have enough oil reserves to last us for the next 400 years. It does not make sense to make other countries richer for it. The moment the gas prices go up, we end up paying more for everything we consume, more sales taxes, and, to top it off, we still have to pay the taxes at the end of the year, to cover for government officials who don't care about what we think about these rate hikes, yet we vote for them because we fall for theirs lies.

It seems like they were pretty contemptuous of Democrats when the GOP controlled all three branches of government, and now that things have changed, giving them a taste of their own medicine seems appropriate to me. But when I post such things here, I get lots of thumbs down. Are the Dems trying to be better than that? Or are they wimping out? Or is there a third option I haven't considered?

First off Arab is a race not a religion. Second the people from Israel were Arabs yes they were also Jews but Many Jews are Arabs. There is no race of Jewish jews come in all different shapes and sizes well generally smaller sizes but still he probably shares the same ethnic group as many dopes like to vilify.

Do they not have a right to live a happy life free of discrimination from you ******** conservatives?? It is incorrect to discriminate because of someone's race, and it's also incorrect to discriminate because of sexual orientation.

Many think gays will destroy the American family... How? Wre the gays going to storm a christian families house and have sex at the dinner table?!?!?

I am a christian, but I am not close minded like most conservatives.

My observation of politics is that each party or political group tries to get ahead by making the other guy look bad, and they try to get their followers to hate the other side. So Conservatives hate liberals, and the other way around. They all find something the other side did and just focus on a few things and try harder and harder to get you to hate the other side. I myself feel caught in the middle. Nobody gets up there and says what they will do or not do they just tear the other people down. The truth is that Hillary isn't the devil and neither is George Bush, but if you were to talk to people on either side, the propaganda is so fierce against the other side, that they've gotten people convinced that if you voted for Hillary that you've sinned and God will strike you dead for doing so. I've talked to people who are very liberal and they are equally as unbalanced. When can it go back to running on the issues, treating your opponent with respect. How can this change???????

I'm a bit to the "left wing" at the moment, or at least I tend to agree with their arguments more often. Most of the job skills I possess are things I would gladly do for free to not have the stress of mundane details. I work hard to provide for the endless middle-men of capitalism.

I respect your drive though right wingers! I think that as long as a person is willing to work hard and achieve that they should be able to have or do anything they want. Respecting the rights and religions of others and their safety of course.

No, I think we need a HEALTHY mix of the two.

How would you blend them?
Why?

rather than Americans? Liberals will say that they consider themselves citizens of the world because they hate American jingoism, but isn't that a typical liberal exaggeration? Despite what liberals say, we are not Nazis, Bush is not Hitler, and we do not live in a fascist society. Leave it up to liberals to turn patriotism and love for America into something to be feared and discouraged.

Argumentum ad hominem (argument directed at the person). This is the error of attacking the character or motives of a person who has stated an idea, rather than the idea itself. The most obvious example of this fallacy is when one debater maligns the character of another debater (e.g, "The members of the opposition are a couple of fascists!"), but this is actually not that common. A more typical manifestation of argumentum ad hominem is attacking a source of information -- for example, responding to a quotation from Richard Nixon on the subject of free trade with China by saying, "We all know Nixon was a liar and a cheat, so why should we believe anything he says?

Why make current US troops go thru 2 or 3 or even 4 tours of duty in Iraq & Afghanistan? The War on terror is bacially a world war & last time I checked every world war the US has ever been in the (including the Cold War) the US had a draft. So why make current US troops take on all the sacrifice for the war on terror? Why not make every American (male & female) take on some of that resposiblity as well? Everyone should put in their fair share. Right?

In a nationally televised debate last night, the ten candidates for the Republican presidential nomination engaged in a battle royal, with each candidate staking his claim to the title of the whitest white male in the G.O.P. race.

With the elusive white male voter holding the keys to victory in the G.O.P. nomination, all ten candidates seemed mindful of reaching out to that often-forgotten voting bloc.

The question of “who is the whitest” came up in the opening minutes of the debate held on the campus of the University of South Carolina, where hundreds of concerned white male voters gathered to hear the candidates speak.

“Not only am I the whitest male in this race, I am the whitest male named Thompson in this race,” said former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson in an apparent reference to former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson, who is poised to become the eleventh white male vying for the G.O.P. nod.

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney went on the offensive when he cited his “impeccable whiteness credentials,” telling the crowd, “I was a governor, a businessman, and before that, a generic white male Clipart character.”

But perhaps the most electrifying moment in the debate came from Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who at 70 years of age would be the oldest white male ever elected president.

“With all due respect, I have been whiter longer than any of the men on this stage,” he said, to thunderous applause.

Regardless of what most of the out-of-touch-with-reality Bush lovers on Yahoo post, the GOP is in very serious trouble. Don't believe me? Start watching conservative talk shows a little more. So, go ahead - call me a liar, insult me - watch your party sink a little bit more everyday. I hope you guys have a plan "B" for the next year or two (as to which political party you want to be in), 'cuz Bush is on the fast track to sinking the GOP (if he hasn't already done it).
