My observation of politics is that each party or political group tries to get ahead by making the other guy look bad, and they try to get their followers to hate the other side. So Conservatives hate liberals, and the other way around. They all find something the other side did and just focus on a few things and try harder and harder to get you to hate the other side. I myself feel caught in the middle. Nobody gets up there and says what they will do or not do they just tear the other people down. The truth is that Hillary isn't the devil and neither is George Bush, but if you were to talk to people on either side, the propaganda is so fierce against the other side, that they've gotten people convinced that if you voted for Hillary that you've sinned and God will strike you dead for doing so. I've talked to people who are very liberal and they are equally as unbalanced. When can it go back to running on the issues, treating your opponent with respect. How can this change???????

I did vote 3rd party in the last election. - My family thinks I wasted my vote, but I voted to who I wanted to vote for. Even the third parties don't really represent my views, but They do a better job of it I think.. At least they talk about the issues.

There is an old lawyer joke that might have precedence here:
First we take all the good lawyers and put them on a cruise ship. Second, we execute all the bad lawyers.
Then we torpedo the cruise ship.

It's a WWE ruse. Last year Congress took more breaks and any Congress year before (when Congress was run by the Republicans). To make it look like they are doing something the yell and scream at each other, but just like the WWE, the outcome on issues is fixed. What did the Democrat's do in their first 100 days in office? Two pages double spaced worth which came down to an increase in the minimum wage and increase in drought relief, hurricane relief and children's health care. That came out to probably three laws (with drought and hurricane relief being combined).
The best way to stop them is to vote third party or independent. Too bad on the local level that there are some which are running unopposed.

Get over it. It's called political discourse.
Politics is a contact sport and has been that way for a very long time. President Andrew Jackson beat a congressman with his cane in the 1800's. Politics has gotten better not worse.
Maybe you should pay more attention to the issues rather than the talking heads. There are clear differences between Democrats and Republicans, so I think with or without the rhetoric it should be fairly easy to choose between the two. If you don't want to hear the B.S. stop watching Hardball, O'Reilly, Scarborough, and all of that other garbage. Make up your own mind.

I'm all for decent campaigns and against the "demonizing", but an honest debate of the differences is a GOOD thing. To have differences is a good thing!
We need to contact, through letters, emails, the ballot box, our political candidates, and make it clear to them that we want to know what they will or will not do (or try to do) if elected. And we need to let them know, and really mean it, that we will NOT vote for them if they run a dirty campaign.
Unfortunately, this country thrives on the "gossip" side of issues these days----look at all the attention paid to that talentless Paris, or the Jessicas, or the Cruises, or the Angelina-Brads---so I think that people find all of thisw garbage entertaining!

the monopoly of the dems and repubs needs to be broken in the worst way.
these two parties have managed to institutionalize their existence and make it literally impossible for a 3rd party to advance.
but that was before iraq and the new mentality in our govt.
the people are way out in front of the pols on the issue of the iraq war and how the war on terror needs to be fought.
the time for rubbish doublespeak is over and the people know it, but the pols still only dabble in the truth.
NEVER HAS THE DOOR BEEN OPEN SO WIDE FOR A 3RD PARTY CANDIDATE.
i would love to see a ticket like chuck hagel-wesley clark or something like that - and have them run and rule as inde's...

Unfortunately I don't see it stopping anytime soon. The two major parties in this country are polar opposites on too many issues. The hunger for money and power is too strong. I'm afraid it will take a major action by we, the people, to get these idiots to stop with the ...."aha, I got you" game.

Both sides have different views and beliefs. When people don't agree on things, conflict occurs. I think this war in Iraq has increased the tension between the Demos and the Reps.

I think when one stoops to just trying to make the other guy look bad, that's all they got. In order to get my vote, a candidate must have ideas and be above bad-mouthing his/her opponent.
