There still will be civil unrest, but without U.S. forces.
There will always be discord in a country with distinct groups willing to die for their cause.
Look at the Hamas and Fatah in the West Bank and Gaza.
Look at Indians and Pakistani in Kashmir and the neighboring area.
Look at the Lebanese government and the Hezbollah and Jihad terrorists.
Which is why our forces should withdraw, or suffer more unnecessary casualties.

on the discovery channel they said many prophecies from different centuries and different reputable Prophets predict that year 2012 will be the end of the world........i am not a prophet but don't see anything good in the future, everything is getting progressively worse; crimeand violence keep rising...they say it was high last year; this year it is 7.7% higher this yr. in some cities. Seems as if people are just so angry, so loveless,so greedy and oh, sooo selfish!!! So, I don't just see doom and gloom for the IRAQIS I see it for us too. If we have crazy people living right here in our own backyard wanting to be a piece of history, such as the JFK plot, if the violence is growning, how can we be at peace? When PANDORA'S BOX WAS OPENED, we had no idea what would come out. TOO MANY PEOPLE DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD AND PRAYER anymore, although when this country was put together, EVERYONE, who was part of building this nation, believed in GOD and had faith. Now, people act like you slapped them in the face if YOU MENTION "GOD".......so what are we going to do to get back to a peaceful democracy. How can we stop something we can't see? IF WE CAN'T have peace, HOW CAN IRAQ? The people in the middle east will fight and fight and fight until they have a new generation fighting. LOOK HOW LONG ISRAEL AND THE PLO have been fighting...for over 50 years. Practically everyone over there, fighting now, wasn't even born when their war started.
WE need to pray that they haven't sucked us into a never-ending war.
TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION........NO I DON'T THINK THERE WILL BE A PEACEFUL DEMOCRACY THERE IN 2009, NO MATTER WHETHER the DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS ARE IN!!

It is a spooky thing when you look at older newspapers. The headlines seem to be the same as today's to an extreme degree. The odds are that not much will have changed. War is big business. Throw in oil and there is no reason to change the status quo.
We will still be there.
There will never be a democracy in Iraq.

By June 4th 2009, American soldiers (plus allies) will not only be in Iraq, but also in Syria, Iran, and probably all over the middle east because this trouble would have erupted into a third world war.

exactly what is going on there tonight, but there will be fewer, not more soldiers there. This answer assumes that there isn't a reason (unknown at the moment) for an escalation in the mean time.
