The US is too big and we should have enough oil reserves to last us for the next 400 years. It does not make sense to make other countries richer for it. The moment the gas prices go up, we end up paying more for everything we consume, more sales taxes, and, to top it off, we still have to pay the taxes at the end of the year, to cover for government officials who don't care about what we think about these rate hikes, yet we vote for them because we fall for theirs lies.

I think you will find if you check your history books that The US was once the largest oil producer! in the world . Texas California Oklahoma and other states still pump out many millions of barrels of oil each year.! The trouble is The US has a huge thirst for gasoline and petroleum products which simply cannot be supplied from its own resources.

Right now its not possible to drop the need for ARAB oil, if you did gas prices would be $20 a gallon, bet that would hurt huh! You shouldn't complain about Arab oil, its keeping the cost of your gas down to a affordable level, If you want to complain about something, - complain to Ford - General Motors and other automobile manufactures, Tell you want vehicles that do 65 miles to gallon instead of 10, or less. Reduce the need for having too import oil and the cost will go down!.

i don't know how old you are or if this is a dumb question. the eco freaks and tree huggers and activists would come out of the woodword if you even mention drilling for oil. there is oil off of both coasts and lots more oil in the gulf of mexico not to mention the oil rich areas of alaska but try to get drilling rights to go after it. the dolts that keep this from happening have no sense about what they are doing. no new power plants no new refineries have been built in this country in over thirty years due to the stupidity of the eco freaks and liberals that think they are the only ones that know what is good for us. i anxiously await the reveloution that is going to hit this country and it is going to be against the government for failing time after time to do the will of the people. ask your rep or senator how much tax there is on a gallon of gas and then ask them what the profit margin is for the oil companies to make on a gallon of gas. if that don't turn you upside down nothing will. when the american people get hungry enough and thirsty enough we will drill and build and it will be for the country not the eco freaks and liberals that keep the good things in life so expensive that the average person can not afford them anymore.

Because a small very vocal minority who have no grounded ideas in reality have put a stop to serious drilling and refining of oil for the last 25 years.

They wouldn't dare go protest drilling for oil in Saudi Arabia because they would soon find out why life in the United States is so good!

We do need to increase our domestic output of oil and refining capacity and when we tried to drill in Anwar these nuts claimed that we were going to destroy an area the size of Maryland with an oil well the size of a few football fields!

Oil production is cleaner, safer, and more efficient today than it has ever been.

But it plays into their agenda to drive up the gas prices on everyone because they think that driving is morally wrong and they know by driving up the price of oil they can make everyone drive less.

There are massive oil reserves on the mainland of UK. These were discovered back in the 1920s.

I'm not going to tell you where these oil deposits are exactly, but do you really want oil wells in the very heart of London, at Piccadilly Circus for example?

Central London is in effect one vast oil field stretching right out to the M25 and beyond.

Start drilling then and don't blame me.

U have been digging for it all the while. It's just that u haven't been able 2 find enough. Anyway the summary is that u just have no choice so u can't drop the Arab oil no matter how u hate them. Don't u know about comparative advantage?

Why don't we just keep sucking up Arab oil and drill for oil all over the USA at once? I don't see the harm in this honestly and the more the better. The people of Arabia need to understand that most of that, if not all, of that oil extracting equipment was created in America, the land of the brave. They have no God given right to be touching our oil.
Arabians need to be expelled from our oil producing lands...theft of American goods will not be tolerated.

Gosh, why didn't someone think of that before????

Seriously, though, why don't we look for or create an alternative source of energy that is infinite?? Oil won't last forever! (But then, we'd have to have something else to go to war for......)

Because the tree huggers will not allow it. Afer all it might inconvenience the caribou in Alaska, or the little fishies offshore.

But Arab oil tastes so much richer than domestic oil. It has richer more exotic ambiance. A fuller aroma, and deeper color. We deserve the best, no matter what it costs!
