I personally feel that many people voted AGAINST the Republicans - rather than FOR the Democrats.

No excuses here - the Republicans dug their own grave by alienating their base of conservatives. They didn't deserve to win.

Personally, it was a very tough choice for me - I rather like voting FOR a candidate rather than AGAINST a candidate because he/she seems the lesser of two evils.

What do you think - did we vote FOR our candidate or AGAINST the opposing candidate?

Do the results, for the most part, indicate support for the elected candidates or opposition to the present administration?

No bashing, please, I've already heard it all.

Last week Bush was telling us that Rumsfeld would be with him until the end. When they asked him today about Rumsfeld resignation and if he knew it was going to happen, he said yes he knew, he just didn't want to tell anybody about it at the time. He has absolutely no crediblility whatsoever.

All of the other new Democratic Senators are Centrists except for Sherrod Brown from Ohio who is pretty Liberal.

Does anyone see any REAL change in store? The Dems have been in the background for so long that I imagine they'll have to become re-acquainted with each other.I hope they don't blow it.
And I really hope they do something VERY QUICKLY ABOUT the Situation With Our Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.(Like finding out why over 350 billion dollars have been spent on war effort, and yet our soldiers are without so much basic military gear.)

GW Bush said today at his press conference that he had been planning to replace Donald Rumsfeld for a while now. But just a week ago he stated emphatically that Rumsfeld would not be replaced and would remain for the duration of his presidency. GW Bush claimed that the replacement of Rumsfeld was not in response to the "thumpin'" his party got on Tuesday. Is GW Bush lying? Or is there some way we can still claim he was telling the truth both times?

I'm sure it applies to young people too, but what is the big deal about your vote needing to be "private"? Are you so ashamed of your position you don't want anyone to know? Is it some archaic tradition? I just think its weird. What do you think?

Something I noticed yesterday and CNN commented on as well. Many of the Democrats who had beaten Republicans were very Moderate. One example is Casey in Pennsylvania where I currently reside. He is pro-life similar to Harry Reid. The man who won in Montana and the Women who won in Missouri are also moderate (though their names escape me). My question is has the Democratic Party become a middle or moderate party and have left wing politics become dead in the USA?

Do you believe the "you're either with us, or against us" will really be stuck to Bush's lips? Do you believe we can restore our international relations, building relationships of mutual respect with those who think differently?

Besides the "war" with a bunch of terrorists in the middle-east what do you think will change?

***Disclaimer***

I'm not for or against this subject...just want to know what others think.

I was posed a question the other day.

We know the Dems thoughts on "women's right to choose" when it comes to abortion....what about a "man's right to choose"?

What I mean is, if a woman can choose not to have a child and abort it, should a man have the right to not support a child he doesn't want? If so, should he have to give up his parental rights if he chooses not to suppport the child?

Again, I don't support and I'm not opposed to the subject.

Thanks!

"I feel liberated. ... I no longer am gonna have to carry the water for people who I think don't deserve having their water carried. ... If those in our party who are going to carry the day in the future both in Congress and the administration are going to choose a different path than what most of us believe, then that's liberating. ...

"There have been a bunch of things going on in Congress. Some of this legislation coming out of there that I have just cringed at. And it has been difficult coming in here trying to make the case for it when the people who supposedly in favor of it can't even make the case themselves."

so what he's saying basically is he lied and covered up for those in power. Those of you who are Rush fans, how does it make you feel to know this guy trumped up people only becuase they more closely supported his platform even if they were not worthy of it.

And you Liberals should be shouting this from the top of rooftops.
