Is a single book supposed to be all things? Should children be allowed discussion and intellectual pursuit....or do they need to be protected from books?

School committees in Massachusetts are grappling with whether to ban an award-winning book from the curriculum after complaints from parents that the book is racist and sexually explicit.

"So Far from the Bamboo Grove" is a book by Yoko Kawashima Watkins. It is the story of an 11-year-old Japanese girl whose family has to flee Korea in the aftermath of World War II. The book is based on the real-life experiences of Watkins, whose father was a Japanese government official.

In one "contested" paragraph, the sister of the main character says: "We must get out of Seoul. I saw several Korean men dragging girls to the thicket and I saw one man raping a young girl. . .The girls were screaming for help in Japanese." The book has won multiple awards and is used extensively in middle schools across the country.

Man.... I just saw this video called "Loose Change" and these college kids from New York did a very good job of putting this documentary together. It basically exposes a lot of truths about the terror attacks of 911 and makes it look like George Bush and his brother Marvin Bush were behind the whole thing! Then I did some investigating on my own and the facts I found have been overwhelming...please don't blame me for asking this question. I feel sorry for all the lives that were lost and our troops being led into war under false pretentions. I suggest you watch the "Loose Change" video yourself and form your own opinion.

I dont think Wall Streets care who runs the white-house really its just the defense, agriculutre, healthcare that really fear democrats really. The other industries feel now the democrats will them alone makes it easier to grow the company. I figure its a two-edge sword here some industries like democrats and others not too much.
