Forget going at each other's throats with character assassination, and focus on legislation that we could agree on. It might be a long and painfull process, but then people would stop complaining that the other view is "communist".

This is the weirdest place I've ever lived. With the exception of Austin and a few other places that are accepting of individual differences, this is for the most part a very unwelcome place for a "yankee," a non-Christian, a kid who doesn't want to play sports, and anyone who prefers to eat anything that's not fried or barbecued by the slab. Not to mention, for anyone with a progressive point of view. This red state has been responsible for so much damage--G.W. Bush, Ken Lay, Oil industry excess, global warming toys (big trucks, boats, and SUVs), maybe we should just cut our losses and let the place have it's nationhood back. They 've been working on it since the Alamo. Yes, my kids DO salute the Texas flag in school. What do to about this place!?
