I happen to believe our gov't happily looked the other way when those Saudis flew the planes in the twin towers.

Now, since its been a few years, do you think that something bigger will happen again so that our administration can move forward with a draft and more plans for invading the middle east?

If a nuclear bomb went off in one of our cities, wouldn't an immediate draft of men & women between the ages of 18-40 be put into affect?

I happen to think this is a strong possibility.

They sure scare me... "We've decided to tax this... it's for the general welfare." "We need to control gun ownership.... it's for the general welfare."

Leftists, the general welfare clause applies only to those federal government powers SPECIFICALLY ENUMERATED by the Constitution. I know it pains you to realize this, but those dunderhead founding fathers were actually much smarter than you. And they didn't even have I-Phones.

two years ago when i was 17 i was driving home from school when i rear ended someone (not major) who had stopped all of a sudden to take a left turn. the damages cost $500 to repair my end. i dont think it cost any more on her part. anyway, she had left to take a turn, it was a busy street, and i had too. say there was a police there and he had pursued action or she had complained and a witness was there. now if i agreed to pay her damages as well, would i still go to court and jail? or would i get off? thanks. btw i live in massachusetts

the girl who drove the car in front of me left to take the turn before i could even do anything, so i left too

The Constitution is quite clear on this issue, "nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

So what is my compensation for taking my money in a progressive tax system for the benefit of others and no compensation for me.

No where in the Constitution does it say they government can trump my Fifth Amendment rights for the benefit of others, that would of course make the 16th Amendment unconstitutional.

The validity of the 16th has never gone through the court. Why not? Don't you want to know that it is legal to steal others money?

I don't get it. Why do conservative promote death to those who could be saved and increased health treatment costs to those who wait? That is the current system.

Gordon Brown said...
"I want to lead a government humble enough to know its place - where I will always strive to be - and that is on people's side" He goes on to say,"One of my first acts as prime minister would be to restore power to Parliament in order to build the trust of the British people in our democracy.
If MPs return to duty 10 days before Gordon Brown signs a final treaty agreement in Lisbon on October 18-19,does it simply show up the undemocratic nature of the exercise.?
Can such an important issue as this be debated in just 7/8day's?
Rejecting referendum calls, the Prime Minister will then press for parliamentary ratification without proper scrutiny by MPs.
"On people's side"? "Trust of the British people in our democracy."? I don't believe it for a second!

I have health insurance, for now. The insurance company has been sending me information to encourage me to drop out or at least stop insurance on my heart condition. Next year premiums will increase another thousand a year as they have for the last two years if they follow their current pattern. In ten years I won't be on this plan. Either I will get lucky and find a company that is willing to put someone like me on their health insurance plan or I won't have health insurance. I don't know what to do but to hope something changes. A national health insurance plan would solve my problem, but I know that a bunch of selfish bastards don't want that to happen.

It seems like many people feel that corporations are not paying their fair share of taxes, are greedy, and are bitter about CEOs making millions(even though a Hollywood actor seems to be very justified in making millions in a cruddy film), but if they paid less taxes to the government wouldn't the corportations be able to expand, and create more jobs, put more money into health care, thus providing more relief and benifits to people rather than some poorly run government program? I realize its a conservative viewpoint, and I consider myself more liberal than conservative, but it just doesnt make alot of sense to me to raise taxes on a corporations. I am interested in hearing different viewpoints, thanks.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070811/ap_on_he_me/life_expectancy

The United States is now down to 42nd in life expectancy worldwide--and many of the nations ahead of us have socialized medicine.

I DON'T favor socialized medicine--but I'd like to see the right-wing's explanation for why a national health care system (not the same thing as socializeed medicine) wouldn't be as good as what we have--when the evidence says otherwise.

Any takers?
