Social Security disability is different from Social Security in that you recieve it based on an "approved" disability that the government sees as permanent and one which does not allow you to continue working. You will recieve Social Security Disability until you turn 65, then receive Socail Security after you turn 65. Social Security Disability allows you to recieve the same benefits as if you were 65.

What lump sum? Never heard of a lump sum SS benefit, except the $255 at death towards funeral costs. Yes, you will receive Social Security when you reach age 65+. Qualifying age is a bit higher than 65. For example if you were born in 1938 it is 65 + 8 months.
