We need to get this recall thing down and not just elect them and forget them until the next time around. The politician is a servant of the people, not a god. If they fail to serve us, we need to replace them before they finish their term and make sure any politician that is recalled is also prohibited from getting a retirement. Our best people (top 50%) serve in the military and our politicians are taking advantage of them. Kipling wrote the following about the the soldier "Tommy."
The Widow’s Uniform is not the soldier-man’s disgrace.
For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Chuck him out, the brute!”
But it’s “Saviour of ’is country” when the guns begin to shoot;

Purely hypothetically...........If the United States suddenly shut down operation (for whatever reason),, which country would you choose to flee to, to raise yourself and your family?
...By the way, I believe that I would moved to England or Scotland...(that's just me) :)

I see and hear this going on all the time, both on Yahoo Answers and in real life. Ted Kennedy, Rush Limbaugh, and Rosie O'Donnel are made fun of for being overweight. Bush is compared to a monkey, and Kerry is referred to as Lurch from the Addams Family.

Shouldn't a mature critic stick to policy or ideological differences with a political figure, and stay away from criticizing their appearance? A person can not always help the way they look, and their appearance really has very little to do with the kind of person they are.

So doesn't it make more sense to say that someone is ignorant, cruel, naive, or short-sighted, rather than saying they look like an animal or need to eat a sandwich? Doesn't it reflect immaturity when someone focuses on the physical?

Or, am I wrong? Is appearance a legitimate area of criticism?

Agree or disagree.

From what I see, Lebanon was the only loser and neither Israel nor Hezbollah accomplished anything except more hatred between the two.

I am wondering if the media is saying this in order to set up another military conflict... not sure on the reason they are saying this.

The USA often bats about the idea that the UK are Imperialist and evil etc etc.
Looking at the Websters definition http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/imperialism and I quote
: the policy, practice, or advocacy of extending the power and dominion of a nation especially by direct territorial acquisitions OR by gaining indirect control over the political or economic life of other areas; broadly : the extension or imposition of power, authority, or influence
With that in mind would the present American State beat the old colonial powers at Imperialism?, if it were a contest of course.

I don't understand why people get so fired up about US politics when its obvious who runs US politics...they are all crytpos.

Cheney,Rumsfeld,Bush, Wolfowitz, Perle, on and on...

They are bascially a mafia organization....why debate and get fired up when these guys running the country are from one ethnic zionist group?

As if it would matter to protest and debate the issue, when its all rigged....The next president will be one too!

Recent video taped testimony from General Al-Tikriti of Saddam's regime confirms that the Russians had a secret alliance with Iraq and that the months of stalling by France, Russia leading up to the war were for them to have time to destroy evidence of their help in Iraq's WMD program as well as moving WMD out of Iraq into Syria. The Russians also sent the Kornet Anti-tank missiles into Iraq just before the war. These are the only surface launched missiles capable of destroying US tanks. This is information given by Dave Gaubatz, who was hired by the US government to be deployed to Iraq specifically to search for WMD because of his wide ties to intelligence networks.

I was watching an old episode of Superman the other day and in the intro the announcer says that Superman fights for "truth, justice and the American way". I was wondering how people define that now and if it has it changed since that show was made in the 1950's or even since 9/11?

Why do American Express travellers checks have a roman legionaire on them? If there was a culture that more closely emulates us who was it? Did the romans know something that we didnt about control of the people over expansive areas?

I just read someone defending the people for becoming sucide bombers and also claims she is Jewish. Then does not understand why people among her own faith or anywhere else either think she is an anti-semite (in that she is the worst - a self-hater) and a fool. I have no problem with discussion on matters - but lying and trying to pretend you are backed by facts (when you are not) is simply dishonest and insulting the intelligence of others. When will these liars and fools stop?

Everyone!, not only Americans, should watch this one!!!

"There's no such thing as Al Qaeda, or Al Qaida, or however you want to spell it. It's a fraud perpetrated on the American people by our own government to scare us into submission. This is a clip from an excellent three-part BBC documentary "The Power of Nightmares".
