I want to stay at home with my child but there is no support from the goverment at all, they seem more interested in gettin mothers back to work and putting their child in a nursery.

My partners earns above the 'low incomce' threshold (15k) so we get nothing in the way of support!

(This is in the UK)

The root of the present crisis in the Middle East lies in Israel's existence as an independent state with indefinite borders.

Only when Israel is given definite and final borders by the International Community and by all the Arab states will there be a real hope of for PEACE.

When are we going to realise that the UN is not some all-powerful 'entity' that can solve problems. The UN is the decision-making body for member countries, and reflects the thoughts/policies of MEMBER states.
Let's stop continually blaming the 'UN' for our failures, and also stop trying to impose 'western solutions' on problems that the West don't or can't understand. (Or caused in the first place) There are always two sides to a conflict.
Only then will the UN have some credibilty.

Report from BBC World:
The UN is discussing a draft resolution on the Lebanon conflict, demanding that Hezbollah halt all attacks and Israel stop all offensive military operations.
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said a quick vote was important.
If the resolution was passed soon, it should quickly end large-scale violence, she said.
But she warned that ongoing "skirmishes" could not be ruled out, and the resolution was only the first step towards lasting peace.
A senior Lebanese official said his country would reject the resolution.
Parliament speaker Nabih Berri, a Hezbollah negotiator, said the draft ignored a Lebanese government ceasefire plan, including calls for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon.
