I posted this in an answer and wondered what people would think:

A much easier way to solve both the welfare and illegal problems is to require proof of citizenship at the welfare counter.

Then, if legal non-citizen residents couldn't get on welfare without being naturalized (essentially having to prove themselves as productive workers), most people would have fewer problems with making legal residency easier for otherwise law-abiding immigrants.

If the USA govt hired about 300000 of the illegal Mexicans, gave them citizenship, trained and paid then real good wages to track the illegal Mexicans who are already this country, do you think this would work and do you think they would do a better job then ICE and the INS in tracking or finding the illegals that are already here.. (ie Sort of out sourceing the illegal tracking to Mexicans to other Mexicans)
Please do note that these Mexicans would not be at the boarder replacing the Boarder petrol but be all over the USA tracking the illegals that are already here.

WHY is it that those of you who were born and raised in the U.S.,feels so much affinity to and empathy for the ILLEGALS from Mexico??? WHAT have they EVER done for YOU??? I have seen quite a few people who either assume that opposition to illegal immigration is race-based or state it outright, and it confuses me. Every country - including Mexico - has problems with illegal immigration, yet no one seems to be accusing them of racism. Heck, South Africa banned white immigrants for a couple of years. We heard a lot about apartheid, but nary a word about that.

Some of you will probably say it's because we are focussed on Mexico. It's true that Mexican illegals get a lot of press, but I think that's because they constitute the largest group and because both the Mexican government and Mexican citizens are so vocal about it.

So - can someone please explain to me why my opposition to people breaking the laws of my country automatically brands me racist? I really do want to understand your reasoning.

Oh - and if your answer is something along the lines of "it's obvious", then please don't bother. "It's obvious" simply means you don't know either

I really want to know why our politician's are totally ignoring how the majority of Americans feel about illegal immigrants. Our politician's have heard us say that we want something done about the illegal immigrants in this country but they REFUSE to adhere to the laws that are on the books. Does anyone have an answer and perhaps a solution because I am sick seeing the problems and having politician's that refuse to do something about it. I live in California and the statistics show that for every illegal head of household it costs the State of California $3,500. in services. Any solutions ... Did I hear someone say Boston Tea Party?

Mendi8a is a fine example always saying that illegals come first their plight is more important then any other country. If things are as bad in Mexico as Alberto claims why isn't his boy Fox reaching out to the world for food aid since Mexico is all but broke and hungry.Angela R claims EL Paso is safest city in the world that all there are walking on streets of gold. I am Mexicano. I didn't go to school because I had to work at young age to survive.
I learned English later on , and talking with different people and tourists who visited me in my little town.

Do you want to criticize me for my mispelled words and sentences? I don't care! You are reading me!..and I can make you up set when I touch tour weak areas. So whatlanguages are about communicating vale!
