It is difficult to follow laws, yet they do. Why do so many support amnesty for illegal aliens who broke the laws, and do not support legal immigrants who follow them?

I fully support anyone who comes to the US legally, especially those who are educated and can work and support themselves and contribute to the US economy. In fact I admire them for all their hard work.

But the situation with the illegal immigrants right now is taking precedence and the legal folks that are here abiding by the same laws as every other American citizen are being over run. '

Don't know, My grandfather (now deceased) came to america from greece illegally during world war II and worked very hard to earn his citizenship once he got here which seemed to be a lot harder to get then it is now? many times just working for a place to stay and a little food. As far as the green card system it should be done away with and replaced with somthing that will keep those who do not want to become citizens here for a much shorter time 2 months at the most.

I don't have a problem with immigrants legal or illegal comeing into the US as long as they learn to SPEAK ENGLISH WHEN IN PUBLIC, get educated, be an asset to society, greatful for being able to live here, learn the ways of the US, and be peaceful law abiding citizens all within a reasonable time frame to become a legal citizen or they get deported no second chances which i don't think is to much to ask.

employers who higher immigrants who can not do the things above should be FINED OUT THE WAZOO.

I know it would cost a lot of $$$ but they should build schools for immigrants with 1-2 month long crash course in US education speaking english, laws, ways of the US etc before being allowed to enter the us for more than say 30 days Have them built like prisons to hold as many people as possible. for the families that can afford it offer private schools for those who do not want to go through the public version (any infractions while in "school" will be cause for immediate deportation with no chance of readmitance.)

sorry for being such long winded but this is a sore subject for me.

I am sure they feel slighted.

This is a hard factor in the immigration issue--what is fair to all.
I have heard they are waiting even longer now (those on list).

I wish we would be firm on what we want and enforced those laws. Now it seems we have created more problems. With no solutions

Nice informative article .
A G'day to you.

Because our politicians don't have the guts to address the illegal immigration, and therefore level the playing field for legals.

I do support those who follow our laws. All of this illegal immigration is hugely unfair to them.

Good question. If we only knew the answer to that we'd have an answer for all stupidity in the world.
