Almost all of my family lives in Miami- and we're not hispanic. Haitian, West Indians, or homosexuals.
So- no, I don't consider any part of my homestate to be a Banana Republic.

You're seriously geographically-challenged, aren't you?
The banana republics located within the contiguous US are (in order of being bananas):
1 - Lousiana (esp. N.O.) and
2 - Mississippi and
3 - Arkansas (one-time home of The Rapist Little Billy Clinton).
