The following is not at all referring to the actual borders that separate Mexico and America.

Tear down the borders
Of all of your hearts
Loosen restrictions
Of all of your love
Hold out your hands
To all those in need
Open your arms
Embrace all your people
You already know
Who your people are
You know tem all well
In your special way
You know them not by color
Not by hairstyles or homelands
Not by flags that they fly
Or clothes that they wear
You wouldn’t know them
By how wealthy they were
But, oh yes, you know them
Your people, I mean
You know all your people
And you know them all well
So tear down your borders
For they are holding them back
From all of your hearts
And loosen restrictions
For they are just cutting
The flow of the love
And hold out your hands
And open your arms
Embrace all your people
Whom, may I remind you
You know all very well
Not for their outsides
Or where they are from
For we are God’s people
Not just us, but them too
And that’s how you know them
That’s how you know

MY GOD, PEOPLE!!!

i guess everyone missed the part in the begining where i stated that this poem has NO REVELENCE to the actual borders that seperate Mexico and America

this poem is symbolic. "borders of your heart," people. do you actually think i mean the physical border by that.

Do you want my honest opinion?

It lacks a fluency. It does not flow easy. It doesn't reach my heart. I don't get warmth of feeling form it.

You express certain things well. And your introduction was good. But than I lost interest.

I still have heard you do better. Just my opinion.

Borders are designed to set boundaries. Just like most people have a fence to separate their yard from a neighbors yard. A border is a clear-cut line separating the liabilities and responsibilities for each side. Do you really want to pay property taxes on your neighbors yard? Do you want to be forced to maintain it? Borders do the same. The borders must be protected, safe and respected on both sides.

We need borders for the same reason you have a lock on the front door of your house. What if I tried to reason with you and tell you that the lock on the front door of your house is not necessary and that no one would come in to hurt you? What if your neighbor did not provide for his family and his family was constantly coming over to your house and sneaking in to take your food and other things that belong to you and you found that you don't have enough to provide for your family because what you had has been stolen. In addition to them taking your things, what if you have been giving money to that family? And what if you complained to your neighbors that they need to not do that. And what if they told you that you owe them because they water your lawn for you when you are not home. Then, you simply tell them to just ask if they need anything and wait to be invited in? They tell you that they will not wait to be invited in and that they will walk through the door because you have taken the lock off. Then, one day, someone sees that you do not have a lock on your front door and they want to kill you and your family for some absurd reason. And you decide to leave your door unlocked and not protect your family anyways. Does this make sense to you? I think you get the point. Actually, Mexico is my hero when it comes to this because they have a good border fence on the southern part of their country. The USA should start doing what Mexico does.

How about what happens under your plan where every undesirable comes and goes at will. Until Mexico does their part stop expecting Americans to bail out Mexico and solve all their problems

Does that mean we here are supposed to accept others or that Mexico is going to take care of OUR poor for a while?

Your poem reminds me of this:

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, the tempest tossed to me.

I lift my lamp beside my golden door."

And I think it's time to blow out the lamp and close the door. We need a better bouncer.
