I guess after 2000 and 2004 our chance of a fair and legitimate election are dead. The machines are so fixed by Bush's buddies at Diabold (i think is the company).

i don't even think there can be a fair election anymore. What can we do?

The scenario: You're a working person, struggling to survive. Then one day, out of the clear blue sky, a baseball hit by Barry Bonds lands in your glove (or, you kicked and punched a bunch of people in order to claim it for yourself...) or you win the lottery.

You finally catch a break, and have been paying taxes all your life.

Should the government let you have this, just this once, and finally give a guy a break? The dude is going to have to sell the ball in order to pay the taxes on it, I read. So he can't afford to keep the ball for himself as a memento.

I really hate our tax system. We need to switch to a sales tax based federal income system, so that you pay taxes when you spend money, not when you earn it. Fairtax, flat tax, whatever you want to call it. We need it, and we need it today.

We spend millions and billions of dollars on building and dropping bombs. Could we spend half of that on dropping food/clothes to the countries we are in conflict with. As a christian nation, should we be the most violent nation?

If the time is not right for a Liberty party to emerge, then the time may never come.

I do not recall a point in time when both parties have failed the principles of liberty and when so many Americans have become disenchanted with the parties as a result.

Yes there are good efforts now and then on behalf of Americans, but imagine an organized campaign committed to:
- free enterprise
- promising to stop making new laws except in case of emergency
- examining existing laws and carefully but steadily drawing back bureaucracy and laws that do more harm than good.
- privatizing all unnecessary and/or unconstitutional elements of the federal government
- recommitting to the constitution; getting/keeping the government out of our refrigerators, our cars, our light sockets, our pants (yes the gov has no business legislating abortion) and our wallets.

If this could come together, I expect you could hear crickets chirping at the DNC and RNC.

I know this question will attrack the usual fanatics who will probably call me names or whatever for asking this question. But here is what I am really after. Is it possible that in the past you called yourself a conservative, but actually are a good moral person of high character, and that as a result of say the past 6 years, you have really learned the true nature of what the republican party represents and that you have pledged to not vote republican anymore?

Are any of you democrats who were blasting the republicans the last few years now disappointed that the democrats who have been elected to stop the american involvement in Iraq have shown little backbone to do so? Are you disappointed at how little the democratic majority has fought for you so far?

How come the world trade center falling didnt fallow any of the laws of physics, it looks more like a building being leveled than, one being toppled over by the combined mass and momentum of a plane. Not to mention it takes sufficient oxygen and heat to melt steal. One could counter that a
"terrorist" put explosive charges on the inside of the building but then why didn't the government take in to consideration any of the firemen's comments on how the steel looked or include it in the report? I'm no conspiracy theorist, I'm just wondering why the heck things around this event are so unclear.

Just so they have something to complain about. If our government is so horrible and deserves all this bashing, why isn't there another revolution to change the democracy system. Like I said, it's easier to bash and pass blame on a body of government than to make a difference and become creative by starting a campaign with your ideas.

2007-08-08 17:03:36 · 8 answers · asked by Anonymous

We've become a society where putting blame on the government is the easiest when things don't go right. I'm not saying I'm perfect and I know I've said some things about the government. When does the system work if nobody is ever happy with the government.
