Are you okay with the increase of governmental intrusion into your life, "for your safety"? Take for example the backscatter machine being pioneered at Pheonix Sky Harbor airport. That machine essentially takes nude photos that are remarkably clear, regardless of how much clothing it has to penetrate. I know, I know. Please don't throw in the "but they adjusted the machine so that the machine operator doesn't see any private parts." Give me a break! So, is that okay with you? And that is just one example.

If you put the address you want your letter mailed to as the return address, and no postage, won' t it get there? Not like it is expensive or anything, just a thought that ran through my head.

Democrats claim to be intelligent. Democrats cast aspersions upon Republicans, ( which seems like the envious hatred of losers), and yet Bush has been elected twice to Office and the next President will also be a Republican.

I mean the best the Democrats can come up with is a coke head and more regurgitations of Clinton clan bile.

How is it that a Democrat lays claim to being intelligent but is too stupid to effectively communicate with those it calls stupid?

Motorists would pay 9 cents a gallon more at the pump and 50 percent more in annual vehicle registration fees under a bipartisan tax proposal designed to generate more than $1 billion in new funding every year for state and local roads. The package proposed Tuesday by a coalition of business, labor and government groups represents one of the biggest tax hikes in recent Michigan history.

This is serious, please do not just respond with slams and name calling. I feel that so many people are missing the point on our Government. George Bush is not an all powerful dictator. He is 1/3rd of the government. He does not act alone. Is civics or government still taught in school? Do you hate mongers not understand that he can only do what congress and the Court allow? Everything is paid for by Congress. Every move to shut off funds was stalled in political wrangling in Congress. If the war were indeed illegal the Supreme Court would step in.
I do not support Bush and his adventures. I think he is way off course. But then so must be Congress. Or, maybe I should ask if things are not taught this way. These explosive name calling sessions on here indicate a total lack of knowledge, to me.

The governor is thinking about doing many things to get more money for the state of Michigan. Some ideas are raise the gasoline tax by 9 cents over the next 3 yrs, raise registration fees, add another tax on ciggerettes, or have a 2 cent tax on services such as haircuts. Michigan is hurting and so are our schools. What would you vote for to raise more money?

How Long Do We Have?
About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:
"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government."
"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury."
"From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.
"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years."
