Because I pledge a allegiance to the flag, United states and the republic for which it stands.

I just had to ask this one. I saw a funny response to another qustion.

In layman's terms, a democracy. When people say democracy, they never mean in the Aristotelian sense, as in "tyranny of the majority." We live in a constitutional republic, an indirect democracy, a representative democracy, a democratic republic, whatever you want to call it.

Democracy equals tyranny by the majority.

One man, one vote, majority rules is the definition of democracy. Our founding fathers knew well that Democracy was bad. They were learned men who knew the lesson of Socrates and the hemlock drink.

A republic is made up of elected people who are supposed to be more informed than the general public. To keep those idiots in check, we have a constitution which limits the amount of damage they inflict.

Therefore, the USA is a Constitutionally limited Republic

Yes, but it's a parliamentary democracy and seperated from you by thousands of miles of ocean. Here we don't pledge allegiance to flags, and we think of patriotism as a bit suspicious. We take freedom and democracy for granted, we don't keep on talking about it.

We live in a representative democracy. I would much rather live in a direct democracy so that I could actually have a say in what happens in my own country.

I live in a judicial oligarchy. My country is being governed by a body whom we ought to be calling the Supreme Dictators of the United States.

Democracy is still existent in the US because people has freedom and they are just being regulated so that abuses and terrorism will be curtailed.
