Elections - December 2007

Why do Christians want to make laws to control what other people do with their bodies? Isn't it enough that the muslims try to tell us what to wear and what to put in our bodies? In muslim-land you can be killed for selling alcohol. Are the Xtians any better imprisoning people for selling dope?

I personally don't think it's fair because there are a lot of people who love Oprah, and probably don't pay any attention to politics who will probably vote for Obama just because of her endorsement.

That is just my personal opinion.

Obama may not have a whole lot of foreign policy experience, but let's be honest, what candidate does? And before you answer that, consider that in spite of his experience, from what I have seen, and what is likely the case for any among you who is being true to yourself, Obama is very familiar with the major/important foreign policy issues that are facing America right now, and has a realistic, concrete plan for fixing those issues with a timeline that would begin from the moment of his election. All things considered, I would say that Obama has a better idea of what America needs than even the president himself does. Based on what has taken place over the last couple of months, it is more than obvious that our current president is no longer looking out for the country's interest when it comes to foreign policy, but is merely taking in what he interprets and acting on his own political/personal agenda even when it comes to very serious issues such as the Iranian nuclear program.

Take a look at yourselves, is it really you who are racist? I mean every candidate has someone famous supporting them, but you pay no attention to the others....why is that???

All I ever hear from the cons is "Oprah" this and "Black" that...

Perhaps Obama is just a really great candidate and Republicans are jealous because they only have supports like Mel Gibson, Halliburton (the company that left America) and that fake christian karate guy...

What do you think?

Of course not.
Thats why you hardly see any Republicans showing their scorn for him.
Republicans WANT Obama for the nomination because he is easier to beat. Obama is ok but not the strongest candidate. Hillary is the strongest and most qualified.

Vote for Obama = Vote for Republican

see her as less of a MONSTER?!

I do know that most of the Republicans that write in to Yahoo answers think and speak terribly of hers. And even the health care plans she has, plus the insurance for children she proposes, it is all despised to say the least by Republicans who ask or answer questions here.

I guess that this opportunity for all candidates to be debating in Florida it is owed to her. And of course most of the Hispanic population in the U.S. will be voting Democrat, so I guess this helps out even more.

I know you aren't supposed to ask these things but just curious about what everyone else thinks of the candidates we have running for president.

A couple of days ago, someone asked if people thought Mitt Romney would be assisted by his (then-upcoming) "faith" speech. This was my response (in quotes). Please read it, and then respond to the question that follows it:

"It'll just make him even more of a laughingstock. And... the LAST thing America needs in the White House is yet another president trying to send the USA down the road toward theocratic tyranny.

"I'm glad I live in Iowa, and will be voting in the Iowa Caucuses. NO person having any kind of religious agenda will be getting my vote.

-- "Roadrat" -- Normal, sensible, and UNobtrusive Christian."

Before framing the question, let me make it clear that "thumb's-downs" don't bother me in the least. However, I'm very puzzled that the above response got me TEN of those, and only one "thumb's up." I thought mine was a very sensible and fair-minded answer, so if anything, I wouldn't have been surprised if those votes had been 10-1 in the OTHER direction. [More]

Hillary would transform our economy from carbon-based to clean and energy efficient, jumpstarting research and development through a $50 billion Strategic Energy Fund and doubling investment in basic energy research. She would also spur the green building industry by funding the retrofitting and modernization of 20 million low-income homes and take concrete steps to reduce electricity consumption, including enacting strict appliance efficiency standards and phasing out incandescent light bulbs.

Recognizing that transportation accounts for 70 percent of U.S. oil consumption, Hillary would increase fuel efficiency standards to 55 miles per gallon by 2030, but would help automakers retool their production facilities through $20 billion in "Green Vehicle Bonds."
