i disagree! 40 mill is way to expensive but most American children don't have the desire to learn! Most would rather play sports and get an ipod than get to go to a school all day! Our culture glorifies sports so what can we expect? Disney tells them to dream and sports is 'cool'! high grades aren't prized like they used to be and what you wear counts alot more than test grades today! This a very sad but it is the truth! Our national average grades decrease while spending goes up! Wonder why Ron Paul thinks it should be stopped? Because half the kids who finish high school (public) can't read!!!

Oprah pays taxes, millions of dollars of it each year, along with her endorsers, now that's enough to build thousands of schools in south carolina and throughout the country, and if they are not being built, blame the politicians and not Oprah.
America helps other countries around the world build schools all the time and no one questions it. Why is this such an issue with Oprah doing a small part of a noble goal such a problem to so many

she will do what she needs together with her money, she earned it. and he or she will say what she needs, it is merely her opinion. That being pronounced, I agree together with her. often, individuals tend to think of that we ought to have issues surpassed to us. What makes this so humorous is that a superb to an preparation IS surpassed to us on a silver platter. preparation interior the US is loose from pre-alright to twelve grade in each state. Yeah, yeah yeah... some colleges get extra powerful investment than others. investment of faculties is a situation yet no longer one Oprah can restoration (she would not have that lots money/impact). invoice Gates is attempting to enhance our gadget to make us extra globally aggressive (being the richest guy alive ought to help open doorways). yet unfavourable investment won't be an excuse for no longer researching. My mom grew up in segregated Alabama. She her college books have been 2d hand and had the be conscious "colored" stamped in them because of the fact at that element blacks weren't allowed to bypass to white colleges or get books from white libraries. although, she improve into nevertheless granted a "classic" preparation alongside with researching a thank you to speak German. Even segregation did no longer stop her from going to college, paying interest in school, doing the assignments, or information that an preparation improve right into a powerful to all and sundry (even with, race, financial/social status). we don't even have this situation anymore and yet toddlers (from all races) seem to think of preparation is a humorous tale. Charity in uncomplicated terms works if the recipient is prepared to settle for it. the youngsters in South Africa are prepared, we don't seems to be like. Oprah might retire from her prepare yet she would not strike me because of the fact the form to in uncomplicated terms take a seat returned and chill out. i've got self belief that if she retires, she would be in a position to in all probability do extra charity artwork than now. style of like Jimmy Carter and Habitat for arts. notwithstanding the place she lives (and he or she has residences everywhere) she would be in a position to be nevertheless helping toddlers.

I saw an interview she did, she asked kids what they wanted or needed, and all the kids said I pods, video games, cell phones etc. That made her mad and she decided to build a school where they would appreciate it more. Its her money, she can do whatever she wants with it.

All of the philanthropists are more interested in changing the world instead of the U.S. Even our president is more interested in changing the world. I think someone should read his job description to him again and remind him who his constituents are. Everything has gone global.
