I work in the ER. Three nights ago a 47 year old guy was brought in after cops tasered him and then beat him to a pulp, then tasered him again. Unfortunately, his heart stopped from the last tasering. We got his heart going again, but now he will surely die from brain swelling from the beating. Here's where the story gets REALLY interesting. Apparently the guy was beating the hell out of his wife. A neighbor heard the noise and called the cops. Since it was a rural community, the guy knew that the offender would surely kill his wife by the time the cops got there. So, he went out and held a gun on the guy until the cops got there. So, of course, he was promptly arrested as well. The guy doing the beating was about 240 lbs, 6 feet or so tall. Big boy, and strong. He did manage to beat the hell out of two of the cops before they brought him down. Nobody argues that if the neighbor had not intervened, the wife would be dead as a doornail. I saw her CT scan. She was jacked up.
