John McCain is a GREAT human being!

Although I disagree with he and others about leaving the borders open, I feel he's as good a candidate as any other GOP running.

I wish the public would better understand that his sometimes stiff and grimacing appearance, are the results of real torture. Senator McCain is in constant pain.

This man was a POW in a country with NO regard for human life; A people, who have raised torture to an art form. This man has experienced true torture, leaving him with the scars that will he will take with him to the grave.

When offered freedom for propaganda purposes, he refused to leave his men behind, knowing full well the pain he would experience for this insult.

This man is a true hero, and embodies what an American could be, as opposed to the present generation, of which I am one, who ask nothing except "what's in it for me?".

I believe that he is capable of serving, at many levels, including president.

I disagree with some policies, including recent comprehensive immigration bill, which he has finally changed his stance on.

Campaign finance reform has also turned into a disaster.

But, he is a man of principle and courage. What else could you ask for in a president?

BTW: Both McCain and John Glenn, were exhonorated, in the Keating 5 investigation.

I believe in 2007 and beyond the US must continue our interests in foreign concerns. Above all candidates McCain has proven he can return the US to a safer place and keep our enemies aware we are not weak. No ole boys club excuses from CLinton Putin will not be so kind. Nor will others waiting to take Super Power status. We can afford no less than a strong leader. Out of the pack this is the man.

I do not agree with all of his politics, but when he was a POW he had the opportunity to come home and refused because the other POWs would not be getting the same preferential treatment. He stayed for 5 years.

That kind of integrity is what we need in a president, not like Mr. 9/11 (Giuliani) or Mr. Flipflop (Romney) or Mr. Religion (Huckster). It's a shame McCain is not favored by the voters.

****

Richard B....McCain has said torture does not bring about the desired results and is against it. Nice try.

I respect him because of his military service, and thank him for risking his life to protect this great nation, but I disagree with some of his policies (campaign finance, immigration reform, use of torture in interrogation)

By the way Richard: McCain is one of the biggest opponents of using torture as an interrogation technique- double check your facts

Yes! And I respect the man to the utmost for what he gave for his country. And he does not waiver on what he believes even if I don't agree with it, I have to commend him for standing behind and sticking to his beliefs. John McCain deserves much respect from his country. However, I do not believe he will be the next President.

Yep! Alot of people call him "Mr amnesty", but I say making them pay fines and penalties, doesn't support drivers licenses for illegals, making business pay fines or closing them down for hiring illegals (of which arizona finally got on the stick), one of the first things he says he's gonna do is >secure the border(s)< which is what people want in the first place!, also making them get to the back of the line and get legalized the proper way is NOT amnesty.
We can't shut down our borders like communist russia, as that is not what America is all about. McCain WANTS illegals to get legal properly.
It's cities like phoenix that have MADE themselves a sanctuary city with mayors that could really care about illegal immigration and tried to make it a national issue and pawn it off onto their senators like McCain

I respect him for his military service, I do not like him as a politician anymore. Because of some of the things he has said and advocated lately. I do like his stances on torture, and does bring some good things to debate about.

I also like the fact that he once called Ron Paul "... the most honest person in Congress"

There is a touching video about himself on his page, http://www.johnmccain.com/ , I will give him that.

BTW:Democratic strategist on almost all news networks have said that if McCain wins the GOP it will be Hillary's worst case scenario!!!!

I don't like the fact that John McCain doesn't support the Constitution very strongly. He wants to make government bigger then the Constitution and he doesn't want to cut government spending and government taxing at the same rate which means that he will increase our national deficit which is already well over $9 trillion dollars.
One of the main things I do NOT like about him is that he is NOT fiscally conservative when it comes to cutting government spending.
