I support Dennis Kucinich 110%. He seems to be a very decent human being and very optimistic about America's future. He has voted against the war always, voted against the Patriot act, voted against NAFTA and advocates for universal health care. So my question is, why since Dennis Kucinich seems to represent the basic core values of the Democratic party, does he get mocked by people in his OWN party?

You ignorant jerks. It is the fact that America is falling apart that is important NOT THAT HE IS SHORT. NOT THAT HE IS SORT OF GOOFY LOOKING, NOT THAT HE ADMITS TO SEEING AN UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT!! STUPID PEOPLE I WAS EXPECTING REAL ANSWERS!

Dennis Kucinich had been gaining popularity because he is against NAFTA and other issues. Thus, he is being criticized by his rivals.

People always mock those that have no chance of winning. Unfortunately it's these people I think that would have been the best presidents ever (Nader, Kucinich, etc.) For Kucinich try doing a youtube search. At one of his speeches he's introduced by a hardcore, tie-dye wearing hippie, and he looks like he's speaking at woodstock or something. It's things like this that make people not take him seriously. If he had better delivery he'd gain a little support. Unfortunately in Washington what candidates really need is lobbies and other organizations backing them up. Sad but the last point is the biggest reason.

This is a common problem with speakers of the truth. It has to do with delivery.

For some reason, Americans love to have steam blown up their ***es.

The more a candidate panders to emotionally filled issues while dodging any true policy/intellectual stance, people tend to buy in to it.

Who are these people and why do they do it - I have no idea. It is quite alarming. I like to assume it ios little old ladies from a different generation, but it is you, it is me, it is everybody. I don't know what happended. It is sad and crushes my spirit, hope, and reasoning for a better America.

Although I like Kucinich, I do not support Democratic ideals; I feel the same way as you for my fav, Ron Paul.

People tend to mock what seems extreme. They like to play it safe. Candidates like Paul and Kucinich fail because of delivery. If they wrapped their message in BS people would buy into it just the same. But they do not because they would not be able to sacrifice their integrity like the rest do. It's a tedious, uphill battle, but I respect them for it. The other candidates are safe. They maintain status quo and don't really say much about changing the system. They will just give us another 8 of these past 8 years unfortunately.

Happy Holidays!

Kucinich is, like you say, a very decent man. He reminds me a little of Jimmy Carter. The problem with genuine (and gentle) decency is that people tend to assume that it implies naivete. And that is sometimes true. Naive, innocent, green, wet behind the ears-- that sort of thing. And that suggests that he's not really ready for the rough and tumble world of national or global politics. That's my guess as to why democrats don't warm up to Kucinich more. (Republicans probably don't like him for his very liberal positions.)

I think he's brave, and sorta cool in a geeky kind of way, but unfortunately he looks wimpy. And in our culture-- probably in most cultures-- image is often more important than substance. That's really a criticism of our own culture than Kucinich. Now, if he only looked like Arnold Schwartzenneger...

It's shameful the way he's treated. Kucinich is a man of principle, and principled men always deserve our respect and our attention. I'm supporting Ron Paul this election cycle, but I agree that Dennis is one of the good guys. I don't swing to the left in my political philosophy, so it's hard for me to support many of his fiscal policies, but I agree that he shouldn't be the subject of ridicule. He's got a point of view that should be heard, and the voters can decide what they think is right. Focusing on irrelevant crap like his height or awkwardness only serves the purpose of those who agree with the status quo and fear honest debate. Good luck in your appeal to reason. We Paul supporters are fighting the same battle.

While I do disagree with some of his politics, I do think he is a well meaning person, and would vote for him over any of the establishment hacks. We would get some change with him, which is what we need, not the same old crap that most of the others would give us, while proclaiming great changes.

And on a random side note, why does the MSM try to bury the candidates who say anything different from the status quo?

Americans are quite shallow. It is more important to "look presidential" and talk in strong sounding sound bites on 2 or 3 wedge issues than to really form a thoughtful opinion on issues of real importance.
I think it is really sad that someone would base their whole vote on a candidates position on something like abortion or immigrants or gay marriage. A candidate could be dead wrong about everything else and lead us to the brink of nucleur war but I'm all for him because he doesn't want or wants abortion. That's real logical.
Seems to me we should go with the candidate that gets most of the things that most affect all of us right. He's not going to be able to all by himself impose his will over most of those personal issues anyway.

Have you ever SEEN Dennis Kucinich? The man is a living caricature. Then to top it all, he's loonier than Jerry Brown, whom everyone called "Governor Moonbeam"! Rodney Dangerfield deserves more respect!

For the same reasons Ron Paul gets ridiculed on the Republican side. Put up a candidate who makes sense and people laugh at them. I guess people are so used to being lied to that they freak out when they hear the truth. You know, kinda like how puppies raised in cages freak out when they touch the ground for the first time.
