On a verbal contract (I know it's stupid) I took a copywriting project for a client. I have now spent WAY over the time I bid and am no closer to an end because the client keeps kicking back all my ideas with a "no" but no help in what he DOES want. I told him I was spending too much time on this and I needed guidance and now he wants his money back. Do I have to refund it?

Kucinich protests Army training school By HARRY R. WEBER, Associated Press Writer
Sun Nov 18, 4:53 PM ET

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich said Sunday the thinking that went into producing an Army school blamed for human rights abuses in Latin America was the same that led the U.S. to war in Iraq and could cause it to raid Iran.

Kucinich was speaking at the 18th annual protest of the school at Fort Benning that trains Latin American soldiers, police and government officials. One of his first acts as president if elected would be to close the school, he said.

"The type of thinking that produced this school is the same type of thinking that produced the war in Iraq and is producing a war against Iran," Kucinich said. The Ohio congressman and former Cleveland mayor was addressing a crowd estimated by local police to number roughly 10,000.

The Army's School of the Americas moved to Fort Benning from Panama in 1984 and was replaced in 2001 by the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, under the Defense Department.

The protests outside the gate to the military installation are timed to commemorate six Jesuit priests who were killed along with their housekeeper and her daughter in El Salvador on Nov. 19, 1989. Some of those who killed them had attended the School of the Americas.

The military has acknowledged that some graduates committed crimes after attending the School of the Americas, but has said in the past that no cause-and-effect relationship has ever been established.

The new Western Hemisphere Institute has mandatory human rights courses, but the demonstrators contend changes at the school are only cosmetic.

Fort Benning spokeswoman Monica Manganaro said the protesters are "spectacularly misinformed."

She said the school teaches the same courses taught to American soldiers. The only difference is the school in question serves mostly people from Latin America and, as a result, the courses are in Spanish, she said.

I personally dont see the problem with capitilism. If you have the desire to break above the rest of the middle-lower class, by all means go ahead. If you are smart enough to be better than others, why not? If you create a company and sell things and make tons of money, whats the problem with that? I mean, you worked for it, so you deserve it. Communism is stupid, because then you are making everybody the same class. Thats like putting a heavy weight champ in the same class as a light weight. To have communism is to get rid of honors classes in school. I mean you are basically classifying everyone in the same group. Even though some may be smarter than others.

Please dont be a smartass with responses. I really would like to understand why some of you believe communism is better than capitilism. I have been reading a lot about it, and I still dont understand the appeal towards it.

My truck broke down at McDonald's, so I left it there for almost 24 hours while waiting for the repair shop (next door) to re-open after the weekend.

When I went to get the truck this morning, it had been towed. There were "tow away zone" signs in the lot, but I had been a customer at the McDonald's when it broke down, and it wasn't there all that long.

The sign had the wrong phone number for the towing company so the Manager of McDonald's gave me the right one. I called and they said it would be about $200 to get my truck.

Their normal rate for towing is $50. Isn't $200 called inflation? Isn't that illegal?

Furthermore, how can McDonald's have my truck towed when I was a customer there when it broke down?

My questions are...

(1) Does any law protect me from a jacked-up price that the towers wouldn't charge if I called them on my own.

(2) Is there any way to get the charges reduced

(3) Any tips or suggestions for me?

This happened in Florida.

Thanks!

I need to know a pretty generalized answer and not something copied and pasted from the internet. I'm in Spanish 202 and I have to write an in-class essay about human rights issues in Columbia. I've done some research but its very complicated. I was wondering if someone could give me a generlized overview of the problems and maybe some solutions? Thanks.

Late last year, Kuwait unpegged her own currency from the dollar. Now both her currency and economy are doing well again. And you can bet that all the other pegged Mid-East countries have been watching this and may well follow suit. How will this effect the dollar ?

Iran has started an oil-trading bourse on Kish Island. Nothing unusual in this you say - well, except that they have been trading oil for Euros and not Dollars for the last year. Could this be the reason why the Dollar has been doing so badly and the Euro doing so well recently ?

What would you do if you join a new company and you work closely with the senior management and you have hiccups and obstacles... issues like the mode of transport, budgets some discrepancies in regards to the job level. If the senior management has a1 the highest a2 the second highest and a3 the junior of the senior management and you see them treating you like you are in b1, the middle management sector... is it fair to inform the HR about it and draw them to the fact that you are not happy or just let it be?

Thanks

I ask this question because America has been looked upon as a violent nation because of its history. Even by it's own citizens. But,there are many of us who do not agree with a lot of how history was established. I am hoping that this war will not influence more of a sense of arrogance in us; but more of a sense of moral correction for the future. America has made mistakes in Iraq. But I don't feel as though the mistakes represent all of how we think and feel here. How can we as a nation help America overcome the negative in order to establish more of the positive for the future? I hope that this is all of your concerns. Thank all of you.

Well I am due June 26 2008, which makes me 8 weeks and 4 days pregnant.

I had twins before this pregnancy and they are now toddlers. My only question is, is there any ladies out there who are police officers? I worked as a dispatcher during my first pregnancy. But now that I am police officer, I would love to know how some women did it.

Since the Dollar is a world reserve currency and not linked against gold since 1971, why don't the US govt. or the Fed have reliable contingency mechanisms in place to save their own dollar. In the last Sub-prime loans debacle, it was the world banks that jumped in and poured billions into US banks to save the economy. Why can't the US save itself?

At the moment the US trade dollar is not valued against anything except market sentiment, political restraint and oil.
This week certain members of OPEC suggest unlinking the dollar from oil trading because of the dollar's pathetic performance this year. If this happens, the dollar will drop like a stone and no-one will be able save the US economy this time.
