I personally dont see the problem with capitilism. If you have the desire to break above the rest of the middle-lower class, by all means go ahead. If you are smart enough to be better than others, why not? If you create a company and sell things and make tons of money, whats the problem with that? I mean, you worked for it, so you deserve it. Communism is stupid, because then you are making everybody the same class. Thats like putting a heavy weight champ in the same class as a light weight. To have communism is to get rid of honors classes in school. I mean you are basically classifying everyone in the same group. Even though some may be smarter than others.

Please dont be a smartass with responses. I really would like to understand why some of you believe communism is better than capitilism. I have been reading a lot about it, and I still dont understand the appeal towards it.

if you read some of the other questions tonight, many on here seem to think communism is the way to go. I was wondering why that is, without getting a smartass answer. I wanted answers, from the people saying communism is a good idea, as to why its a good idea

Nichole, i do realize its not a purely capitilistic country. Its more of a mix between capitilism socialism.

Megan, i think youll agree that if you go through some of the questions tonight that many democrats on this board have said that communism was a good idea. I did not mean to imply that all democrats were communists at all. I was wondering from the few dems that said it was a good idea, why it is a good idea.

Shirts, thankyou for the intellectual answer, and explaining to me the appeal. It now makes more sense as to why one would somewhat agree with it. I dont, but i could see why one would

No matter what Rush Limbaugh or anyone else says, there are NO elected officials in the US government who are "against capitalism and for communism." Not one. The closest would be Bernie Sanders, who might be considered a Socialist. (Though any true Socialist would disagree.)

Also, communism does not mean getting rid of honors classes in school. Quite the opposite in fact. Those with superior abilities are expected to maximize those abilities, and the state is expected to fill these needs.

What appeals about communism is that on its face, it recognizes the inherent equality of all human beings. Do you really think it's right that there are people starving to death when the average American's cable television bill would feed an entire African family? Well, I don't. But I don't believe communism is the answer.

Communism appeals because most human beings have some basic compassion. We feel bad about people starving to death. Some people naively believe that communism is the answer. And it may sound good in theory. But the practice never even remotely resembles the theory in communism.

The problem is that even the most kind-hearted people tend to act in their own (and their family's) best interest. It's just human nature. Communism must ignore this fact. Capitalism embraces it. It's called the "invisible hand." The idea is that each person acting in their own self-interest will produce the maximum good for society.

It's the worst system humans have ever come up with. Except for all the others.

Communism is not a good idea. It has been tried and it didn't work in Russia and it will not work here. The Dems do not want Communism but rather a form of Socialism which is far cry from Communism. I am not fond of Socialism either because it removes incentive from the people and makes the government take care of all areas like health, education, monetary, etc. Capitalism is not the total answer because it allows big business to control the country in terms of oil, health, medicine, monetary, and anything that has to do with capital. At this time big business rules America and this isn't the way to go either. Back to the old fashioned monarchy where the king or queen made all the decisions.

I am fairly liberal in my belief. I do not support or advocate communism. Human nature guarantees the failure of communism because many humans cannot be happy with an equal share of anything. They want more or all but will never settle for equal. We can't change that and even if we could the same drive that makes humans greedy also makes them succeed and advance. Communism looks like a good idea but it cannot work with humans. It might work with ants.

That said you ought to know we don't have a pure capitalist system. Maybe we used too but its been gone a long time. Think I am wrong? try to start a power company of your own. You can't without government permission. Grow your own tobacco. whoops nope you can't without a license. How about brew your own beer. In some states you can but in most, you guessed it. you need permission and your not going to get it because the folks already doing it have all of the permits the state is going to allow. They made sure of it.
Start a small business of your own. You can succeed but sooner or later you will need government permission. Whether its about the number of employs or their benefits or about zoning or something else. We do not have a capitalist system. Government and some business are entwined and government helps some business and hurts others.
I am not for communism but the system we have is just as bad. I would love to see pure capitalism but to have that we would have to stop letting big business buy their own politicians.

Not that I'm 'Pro-Communism" or whatever, but my big problem with Capitalism in America is that 1% of the Population controls 50% of the wealth (that is, 5T$ of a 10T$ economy). That combined with the growing lower class because of jobs being sent overseas and inflation, I'm just sort of like... huh?

I admit that there are those who sit around and feed off the system because they can, but there are truly those in America who are working 2 jobs to make ends meet, and it's nobodies fault but for the situation they're in.

I see no real problem with Capitalism either, but I do think we need to fix some key areas in America.

I mean, this is just what I think, whether or not I'm right, ya know? But I'm actually really glad that you aren't trying to be an a** about this (as most are), I think it's great to have somebody actually be interested in trying to understand the points of view of others instead of just bashing them.

People who believe in Communism are left but not Liberal, just as people who are Fascist are right but not Conservative. Each side in the political debate label the other with the most extreme totalitarian version of their views on the political spectrum.
There are hardly any people who are either Communist or Fascist in the US today although there seems to be an unusually large number of naive posters here that support both points of view, but I think when they grow up and learn about how the world works it won't last..

no one has a problem with capitalism. Just because you increase govt. programs does not make you communists. If it was communism there would be no class system, no private property, and no corporations. No one is trying to do that, maybe revamp health care, but that does not make you a communist. Try looking up definitions next time before you post fox news propaganda. Oh ya, and no one is trying to get rid of any kind of "honor" classes.

edit: um..yes you did, do you want me to copy and paste exactly what you said? You said liberals are for communism.

"Why are so many liberals against capitilism? and for communism"
"why some of you believe communism is better than capitilism"

Because they don't look at the big picture. Communism looks great on paper and that's all they see. They want to believe in fairy tales like "the government can do a better job than private business" and "human beings are basically good." Some of them actually grow-up and see the error of their ways. Others stay in blissful ignorance. Still others use liberalism for power over the less fortunate. They're just misguided. Let's hope all liberals see the light one day.

Uh, yet liberals do not help the fundamental, defining plank of communism: communal possession of the potential of production. unfastened practise is, surely, in the known assertion of Human Rights, which contributors of the UN have ALL signed directly to (as properly as being this way of sturdy concept that hardly all people -- and no person with better than one functioning concepts cellular -- rejects). saying that there sould be a tax on inheritance isn't comparable to abolishing inheritance. Getting maximum of one's inheritance continues to be inheriting. (human beings accuse LIBERALS of sloppy thinking -- why is THAT?) Heavy? ideal we now have a regressive tax equipment (once you incorporate each and all of the sales tax maximum in the rustic would desire to pay; and the small p.c. of tax paid by utilising people who own 80% of the wealth). sure, a well-known tax is a powerful element. as a replace of purely people who've little or no money paying each and all of the tax, it rather is clever for individuals who've fairly much each and all of the money to pay. in spite of everything, if it weren't for the hard artwork of all their workers, they does not have any money. because of the fact they don't pay the individuals who do each and all of the artwork, they might desire to pay tax. (Nor would desire to they be the sole human beings to get any income from the taxes each physique will pay -- that's the equipment we are straight away shifting in direction of.) and you grossly overstate the "administration over inner maximum property" (which isn't a completely liberal element, the two). No, you could not plop a production facility ideal throughout a residential block. sensible human beings comprehend that getting into. besides, as I stated, American liberals are capitalists, on the entire, by utilising and massive. that's the communists who're communists. yet then, somebody unable to turning out to be correct differences could not be expected to attraction to close that. (it extremely is unbelievably uncomplicated between the main appropriate in u.s..)

You ask a question "why are so many liberals....for communism?" Then later you state "I did not say libs were communists." You implied, strongly, that we support communisim--that's not far from being one.

Frankly I'm tired of this totally ludicrous assumption and you cons seem like you're needle is stuck on it. Give it a break!!!
We are not communists!

Liberals are not communists. Communism is a way of government and liberalism is a way of thinking. You can't compare the two.
