I own two houses in seperate school districts, both of the school districts are having a special election in regards to school revenue. I want to vote in both of the elections but they told me I can only vote in my primary residence and not the other. I pay property tax on both houses so why can I not vote on each of the referendums? Voting will decide if an increase in your property tax will take affect. It just seems you should be able to vote on the issue regardless of your primary residence. Does anyone have an idea on this or know the law? The houses are located in Minnesota. Any legal help would be great. Thanks.

The government school district in Galveston, Texas is threatening to sue a parent for what the school district says is libelous material on the parent's website. Sandra Tetley runs a site – www.gisdwatch.com – where she posts information about the local government school system and its officials. If she does not remove the statements from the website, the strict plans to sue her.
Tetley accuses trustees and administrators of breaking the law. Her group, Galveston Alliance for Neighborhood schools, has a history of criticizing the district for reconfiguring its middle schools, closing elementary schools, meeting in illegal executive sessions, refusing to divulge contents of a letter from a civil rights consultant, and for issuing a budget forecast that was off by $10 million.
One legal expert says that it is "rare and unlawful" for the district to sue a citizen. Government entities cannot sue for libel. Some call this potential lawsuit an intimidation tactic, and even worse, a great big waste of taxpayer dollars.
Tetley says that people are tired of what the government is doing, and that they are going to use our own money to silence us.
Our government schools are so pitiful .. it's sad more parents aren't as proactive as Tetley. Once the parents of this country recognize what they're doing to their children, and once these parents start demanding some semblance of school choice, things may begin to change.
Her web site:

or bad math skills?

If things are so bad, why are they so good?
With all the gloom coming out of Wall Street, the Democrats on the campaign trail and the mainstream media, a remarkable thing just happened: Real gross domestic product, the best summary report of the American economy, came in at a breathtaking 3.9 percent annual rate for the third quarter. In fact, following the 3.8 percent growth rate for the second quarter, the U.S. economy has posted its strongest quarterly growth in four years. The economy actually appears to be speeding up, following the relatively sluggish performance of the prior 18 months.
On top of this, the inflation rate is actually slowing down. The consumer spending deflator is reading 2.1 percent for the past year, compared to over 3 percent six quarters ago. The core inflation rate is down to 1.9 percent, below the Fed's 2 percent target.

Hillary Mulls Supporting Illegal Alien Pilot License
by Scott Ott

(2007-11-01) — As Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton continues to work round the clock with advisers to determine exactly how she feels about granting automobile driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, the Senator today announced she may support New York Gov. Elliot Spitzer’s new proposal to allow undocumented workers to receive airline transport pilot certification from the FAA, allowing them to fly commercial jets.

“Giving a pre-documented immigrant a license to fly a jumbo jet would certainly bring him out of the shadows,” said Sen. Clinton. “In addition, since the flight certificate requires fluency in English, it would inspire him to learn one of our nation’s most important languages. So there’s a big potential upside.”

Although the senator said she had some concerns about national security, she also noted that “If the pilots of the four planes that crashed on 9/11 had applied for licenses, someone

I was called to do my civic duty and was amazed to find that I would never want to go on trial in my state. The judge informed us all that we MUST be fair and unbiased. He said that we must be fair and that we could not even speak to one another about the trial. He also said that on our journey that we would learn all about the system. Well he was right I learned more then I really wanted to know. While I was sitting in the jury room there was all sorts of pastimes such as a good game of dominos or if you so desired you could break out your laptop computers and use them right there. In my state there is a open records act that allows you to pull records on defendents therefore exposing thier past and people being human I wonder how many look at this. There was also many cell phones with internet access. Would this not create bias if just one potential juror looked to see what a defendents past was like? And if so should thier sentences they got be looked at ? Is that fair?

I see a need in the city in which I reside to make a difference. My ideas are what some would consider over the top or extreme because they fall out of the realm of anything the city in which I reside has ever done. I have lived in other cities in which these ideas have worked very well, and as a result I know they can work here as well.
So my question is how do I become the person that is powerful enough to be listened to? You know, the guy who is everyones friend and can get anything done because he knows everyone. I would like to eventually run for mayor, but i have neither the money, nor the social status to do so. how does one rise from the ranks of citizen to valued member of the community, and then possibly to mayor?

With the present 17th Amendment the States have lost all power as a State. The founders tried to establish a Republic but we are now in a Democracy which is the Majority over-riding the Minority. The Federal Government uses the States as provinces. Repeal of the 17th Amendment would help return this country to Benjamin Franklin's republic.

I heard one conservative argue that not saying the "Lord's Prayer" in school was due to the liberal bias in our education system. Apparently, our school system is full of bias from College profs down to Kindergarten.

Is it bias to tell one religious group that they can't monopolize an education system? I know it sounds like a sooapbox, but I wonder, please tell me where I'm missing the point by assuming that religion and spirituality should be taught at home?

I was upset with my mil and I was telling her off in her face. I did not hit her or had plans to. She told me that something told her, if she hits you pick up something and knock her down. Little did she know I was pregnant with my third child. If she was to actually carry this out, would she go to jail. My mil receives a check every month and she goes to the mental health center. She is 55 years old. She said after this she would call the police. Maybe she would be the one heading down to the police station in handcuffs.
