i need to look up information on cusody laws. my boyfriend has a 3 year old girl. his paternity test came back that he is her father and the day he was suppose to go to court to actually establish and put his name on the birth certificate, the childs mother went to jail and did not show up. they placed his daughter with him, but he wants to go for full custody. the mother has several things to complete before she can get her back, but he doesnt want her to go back, he wants full cusotdy. they have a court date on Nov. 19th, not sure what its about. anyone know anything about this??? or where the best place to look up information on this is??

He needs to call a lawyer if he wants custody. He needs to see one way before Nov. 19th, or the child may end up in a foster home.

"where the best place to look up information on this is?" - In a lawyers office. While there are laws on the books about custody, court precedence has more bearing on the situation. In custody cases the judge has a lot of leeway.
