WASHINGTON -- Those things that go bump in the night? About one-third of people believe they could be ghosts.

By 31 percent to 18 percent, more liberals than conservatives report seeing a specter.

Spells and witchcraft are more readily believed by urban dwellers, minorities and lower-earning people

Democrats were more superstitious than Republicans over opening umbrellas indoors, while liberals were more superstitious than conservatives over four-leaf clovers, grooms seeing brides and umbrellas.

The poll, conducted Oct. 16-18, involved telephone interviews with 1,013 adults and had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

Former Mexico Prez Vicente Fox informs us that Bush is clearly afraid of horses. On that basis, can't we stop the "cowboy" criticisms.

A Naples, Florida woman has been found INNOCENT of child abuse by a jury after she pierced her daughter's private parts to keep her away from sexual activity. Plus she shaved her head completely bald to keep boys away.

The USA and many others have critized repeatedly the most extreme forms of SHARIA law by the TALIBAN and many AFRICAN countries. Women all over the world are fighting against these inhumane practices, and here it is taking place right in our own backyard, right in FLORIDA.

PLEASE, we must write to as many government officials as we can about this. It is something horrendous. It is in the very least extreme child abuse. And knowing how many strange, and sometimes horrific stories have taken place in Florida, still this is part of the US, and this cannot be allowed to happen.

Florida children's agency didn't know at one time the fate of 600+ children in their care a few years back. It used to have the worse system ever. Hopefully it has changed w/ new governor.

I was an Army artilleryman and worked in fire direction. However I always wondered how the Navy was able to fire and hit the target when the ship was rolling and pitching.

It seems like every time there is a question about NAFTA half the responses are either about poor quality products from China or jobs lost to off shoring.

NAFTA is the North American Free Trade Agreement. It is between Canada, the US and Mexico. It has nothing to do with call center jobs going to India or lead painted toys coming from China.

that every one connected to him is being targeted by congress?
His administration (Attorney Generals, contractors like black water, his sectaries of war) are going down in flames or being investigated, but not him nor Cheney.

What do you think about the idea of the Democrats removing those around him, and not him directly?

I understand the political move of not attacking him directly but
attacking those he is allied with, but why they not doing so directly?

The Far-Right preaches "Family Values" along with their preaching of protecting the "sanctity" of marriage. My question is, why don't they stand higher on these issues, which are related to their beliefs:

-Making marriage illegal for infertile persons?
-Ridding of Prenuptial Agreements?
-Heightening the requirements for, if not banning entirely, divorce?
-Preventing marriage to persons whom don't want to have children?

If they stand for "The American Family", shouldn't they stand for these issues too?

I heard this in a class I am in and wondered what you thought about it.

If all 20 million (12, 18, 35 figure doesn't matter) illegal immigrants were given a choice to stay here and be a citizen after they are enlisted in our military for no less than 4 years would this be a fair deal for everyone involved? Just curious, not racist, not bigoted, not looking for insults, just answers. Thanks.

Federal government bans flag-folding recitations following one complaint

It is time for Christians to say enough is enough

Dear David,

In the latest attack on Christianity, the U.S. government has banned the flag-folding recitations at all 125 national cemeteries. The banning came as the result of one complaint! The situation is similar to that in which one person removed prayer from schools.

This article from The Associated Press explains the situation:

Complaints about religious content have led to a ban on flag-folding recitations by Veterans Administration employees and volunteers at all national cemeteries.

At thousands of military burials, VA volunteers have folded the American flag 13 times and recited the significance of each fold to survivors. The 11th fold glorifies "the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.” The 12th glorifies "God the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost."

Citing a need for uniformity, the National Cemetery Administration has prohibited unpaid VA volunteers as well as employees from conducting the recital at all 125 national cemeteries.

American Legion attorney Rees Lloyd calls it "another attempt by secularist fanatics to cleanse any reference to God."

Following one complaint, the Veterans Administration has made anti-Christian bigotry the law of the land. The U.S. government has bowed to pressure from one radical anti-Christian secularist. Allowed to stand, the action by the Veterans Administration, in essence, means that anti-Christian bigotry is now the accepted and approved law of the land.

Here's my idea. We conduct the same elections that we already have in place, but the presidential election will actually determine which candidate will get which state. There'll be one president for the red states, and one president for the blues states. And, every 4 years, each state will have the option to switch sides if they so choose. What do you think?

Does it bother you that Gore's film cannot be shown in UK schools without the teacher first telling their students that 11 statements made by Gore's are either false or, unproven? and the teachers must preface the film by informing the students that it is largely a political piece?

but, here in our nation, the film is presented as though it is based upon proven facts and the students are not made aware of Gore's political agenda?
