WASHINGTON -- Those things that go bump in the night? About one-third of people believe they could be ghosts.

By 31 percent to 18 percent, more liberals than conservatives report seeing a specter.

Spells and witchcraft are more readily believed by urban dwellers, minorities and lower-earning people

Democrats were more superstitious than Republicans over opening umbrellas indoors, while liberals were more superstitious than conservatives over four-leaf clovers, grooms seeing brides and umbrellas.

The poll, conducted Oct. 16-18, involved telephone interviews with 1,013 adults and had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

You're not really surprised, are you?
Their whole Utopia, socialist, big daddy government agenda is nothing but pie in the sky - and they believe it's the answer to all of the concerns presently facing our nation.

I think that it is because of the fundamental liberal need to keep everyone on the edge of their seat. "the sky is falling" type of mentality Just like Global Warming, its a hoax more liberals believe it than conservatives, and in 15 years when the world hasn't ended yet nobody will give a damn because the US is the new Rome and "the mob is fickle brother, it will be forgotten in a month"

Without a steady environment to "non-conform" to, liberals would go extinct. There would be nobody to blame, nobody to take responsibility for their crazy psycho hoaxes, they are teenage rebels who can't grow up and have more than likely never had to really fight/work for their well.........anything.

They are the majority of Atheists and Wiccans, they form the most cults, because they have a need to be the victimized minority. Thats why we have affirmative action, and political correctness and the like, and well you get my point

This goes to Sane:

My facts say otherwise and history bears me out.

1st. Fact. The Ku Klux Klan was formed by the southern democrats after the Civil war to be the enforcers for the party. They recruited like minded losers just like you. They were, and still are, American terrorists and are the poster children of racism.

2nd. Fact Lee Harvey Oswald was a Communist sympathizer. If he were alive today, he'd probably be the head of the Democratic party.

3rd. Fact Abraham Lincoln FREED the slaves. He was a republican and was shot by John Wilkes Booth, an alleged sympathizer of the KKK, because he FREED the slaves

So put down the doobie, clear you head, and realize that all is not as it seems.

EXCELLENT!

Ive always said as much. Its great when people offer support for their contentions. Very well done!

Another way I put it is that leftists are more "religious" or "idealistic" while conservatives are more pragmatic. This also goes to another question I asked last week about who the true fundamentalists really are, left-wingers or right-wingers.

Yeah we leave it to the oh-so-rational Republicans to believe a Father, a Son AND a Holy Ghost is one Being, it's all "liberals" seeing the face of Jesus or Mary (or Elvis) in a tortilla in Mazatlan or a grilled cheese in Newport, RI.

And I don't suppose the fact this "poll" was conducted just before Halloween had ANYTHING to do with the results? Maybe just a few of the responders were in "spook mode" to begin with, perhaps? Conduct the same poll in March and let's see what the results are.

You actually sound as though the concept of an active imagination is completely foreign to you. How sad and drab your life must be.

Liberals are by nature wishful thinkers.

I thought conservatives were the ones that were fundamentalists. So, that doesn't really doesn't make sense.

I don't understand the question, are you saying that Liberals are crazy, or more open minded. This is an attack right, not sure what it says though. Lets remember intelligent people do not label themselves, or others, irrational people label other people because they are scared. So little one don't be afraid, they are just different, not bad. "They" you have to remember is everyone but "us",

show me that part that says liberals are more likely than conservatives, etc...

ADD just a note. many, if not most, conservatives admit to being somewhat terrified of an invisible giant jewish guy who lives in the clouds, and who is, curiously, often depicted as looking like an obese viking in a white mu-mu. if that's not superstition, i don't know what is.
