The govt managed to impeach clinton, so the process does work. Where your argument falls short is that you nor anyone else can demonstrate where the president is undermining the constitution. The fact that you do not personally like him does not create a violation of constitutional law. There have been several presidents and numerous other politicians (and civillians) who I do not agree with or like. That doesnt mean that they should all be removed from office or jailed. They were elected by the majority of the voting public and I only get one vote. If I dont like them, I wait until they limit out or work hard against them in the next election. Sitting around whining because I didnt get my way is just not my style.

How would not following the rules of the Constitution on removing a President be a good idea when your initial complaint, valid or not, is that the President is not following the Constitution?

Wouldn't that make you party to the same issue?

Either:

- you like the Constitution, and think it should always apply
- you dislike it and think it should never apply
- you work to amend the parts you think are not working anymore
- you just wait until the next election because in this country all Presidents, not matter how power hungry, have always respected that their power is granted by the people and have stepped aside a the end of their elected term (and in one case before that)

And do you really want Cheney in charge for even a week? :)

There is ample evidence that Bush has undermined the constitution, and since he swore to uphold the constitution yes he should be impeached. What I don't understand is how anyone can support an administration that so obviously abuses it's power for it's own political ends. That so obviously abuses the constitution and distorts it's meaning to further it's own agenda. Conservatives should be going crazy at this attack of our basic rights.

He is undermining both the laws of the United States and international law. He did not understand the difference between "serving the president" and "serving the United States" in the Albrerto Gonzales case. He arrests and detains citizens indefinitely, without charge and without access to legal counsel. I could go on for days. Of course he is undermining the Constitution. He hasn't even read it, why would he respect it?

of course, nobody should undermine the constitution and if there's evidence the president is doing it he should be impeached but of course its not going to happen

No. The US president cannot be fired. He cannot be recalled. Mr. Bush is not undermining the Constitution.
