Among the U.S. domestic issues on which the Mexican government is actively exerting influence outside of normal diplomatic channels both through its broad network of consular offices and through the new structure of overseas communities are the following:

* Driver's licenses. Mexican consular officers and Mexican community activists have aggressively been lobbying state legislatures to adopt laws that allow illegal immigrants to obtain state driver's licenses. This effort has been successful in a number of states but met with a setback in 2005 when the REAL ID bill was adopted as part of the Iraq-Afghanistan Supplemental bill. This action led to Mexican President Fox's announcement on May 12, that his government would take unspecified actions to oppose the new U.S. law and his intemperate comment that "Mexican immigrants...are doing jobs that not even blacks want to do there in the United States."
* Mexican Consular IDs — Matricula Consular. Shortly after the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States and the government's heightened security concerns, the Mexican government began to aggressively seek recognition of identity cards issued to Mexicans residing in the United States by local governments. Because Mexicans who are legal immigrants already have identity documents such as the 'green card' and legal nonimmigrants have documents such as a Mexican passport and U.S. visa or U.S. Border Crossing Card, the object of this ID campaign clearly was to provide an identity document to Mexicans illegally residing in the United States. The campaign was not just to issue the matricula consular to these illegal aliens, but also to get those documents accepted by local governments for law enforcement purposes and provision of services.
* In-State Tuition. The network of Mexican consular officials and local support groups has also aggressively lobbied state government to adopt laws that allow Mexican and other illegal aliens who have graduated from U.S. high schools to be able to benefit from the taxpayers' support of higher education by enrolling at in-state resident tuition rates.

The personel in the office took some photos of raped areas, Question: If you don't want them to have these kinds of pictures of you, especially since they aren't using them, and have them in a file some place, Are you allowed to go and have them release these to you and purge them completely from their office, especially after they said there was no way they were really going to do anything about what happened, The pictures were only taken due to the staff seemed kind of pressuring about taking the pictures?

I'm just curious to know if security is as strict as they say there? I've heard that if you pass the security point they will actually fire shots at you. Then you will be arrested. Would it be considered a felony for tresspassing on government property or simply criminal tresspassing which is a misdeamenor? Just curious if anyone knows?

I mean, even though the terrorists were plotting and attacking different countries AND the USA prior to 9/11, he decides to go over there and fight them on there own soil???I mean, why would he want to fight them on there own soil??? Why doesn't he just tuck tail and run like the almighty liberals? If we pull out of Iraq, millions of people will die, just like when we pulled out o Vietnam, tons of Vietnamese were slaughtered by Cambodians and there own people? Sounds like a good idea to me. Why can't republicans just stop trying to protect us from the terrorists and let them have their way?

It seems like I have never heard this until the Bush administration. If you believe this, does it negate for you the statement "patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundral" and verify for you "my country right or wrong?"

Both countries value male over female babies. With 200 million or so sexually frustrated men who can't find women in both countries there's gonna be trouble. The easiest way for rulers to solve the problem is have them kill each other off.

I was talking to a man on the train and we got to talking about Iraq and the U.S. Military and he stated the #1 thing the U.S. needs to do is become like the Soviet Union , what he meant be this is - The U.S. needs to be feared and only then can the U.S. win wars and defeat terrorism and if that means the U.S. has to kill thousands or even millions of people so be it - we will win .

Question - What are your thoughts ? And do you feel the same way as this man ?

Why is everyone so concerned w/Democrat vs. Republican? I'm of the opinion that the candidates contradict each other just because of their political party. There are certain things we need to come together on. So what do you say to a compromising government, not Democrat, not Republican- but AMERICAN?
