You could try it and find out... Seriously nobody that has been to Area-51 would discuss it on the internet.
Before given access to classified materials, you must sign a contract not to divulge that information. You cannot discuss it for 200 (I believe this is correct) years or until you die, which ever comes LAST. A guy actually flat-lined in an ambulance, so immediately afterward, he started telling all, under that technicality that he had died, so he didn't break his contract... hence the wording change.

Area 51, in Nevada? My Dad was an engineer, designed missiles, and missile defense stuff for the military. He visited all their bases. There is only one base in Nevada, and he went there several times.
It's an abandoned nuclear test site, it's not called Area 51, and his main job there was to send a video camera down a bunch of drilled holes in the mountainside to see how likely it was to collapse.
They made him wear a name badge, and one of those radiation pads all the time, but he said it was the most boring thing he's ever done in his life.
Note that my father leads such a wild life that he keeps track of his solitaire wins and losses via a spreadsheet file.
Aliens? Alien autopsies? Bah, more likely they were trying to separate some geeks from their pocket protectors for safety reasons. It'd look about the same from the outside.
If you really want excitement, find out what's going on at the dump/air museum in Tucson Arizona.

In Search Of, a program of the 70s, did a tour there. Yes it's top secret, but once you think about it it can't be that interesting. When In Search Of was there they were testing the best engine for an aircraft. The also look for the best software, brakes, body shape, tire pressure etc. for aircraft. Sometimes they test a whole aircraft.
No they won't shoot at you, but they have a quick reaction force to take you. They have those teams in other restricted places too including nuclear testing sites. It would be a federal offense since it's on federal property.

You can't even come close to Area 51 with out them knowing it. It the most secretive base of the US. You could get shoot for just touching the outer gate. It has the military prototype weapons, and every other thing you can imagine. I wouldn't have it other way. That's were the US military tests its new toys. I think they moved the test site because Area 51 has gotten to public.

I teach high school math, but one of my students has a step-dad that was special forces, and he mentioned that Area 51 is a place that you toe the line, you don't mess around...he winked, but said nothing more.
