see... we're still trying. we're still working on bringing our men and women home. we're trying to do as we promised. but we've got these things called filibusters and presidental vetoes that stop our progress.
don't give up on us yet. we're going to do what we promised. or we'll die trying.

also, don't forget, in 8 months, we've come up with dozens of iraq control bills, we've raised the minimum wage, and we tried to repair immigration.
all that in 8 months. that's twice as much as the previous republican congress accomplished in 12 years

I firmly believe we are much much better off with a Democratic Congress than a Republican controlled politburo. Doggonit Iltrix...I was gonna say that :=) Stay Green

Let's take a good look at this congress:
Pork barrel bills attached to the troop funding amendment.
Initiation to censor the President (unconstitutional, by the way)
Non-binding resolution to show their discontent.
Senate leader publicly announcing that the United States has lost the war - while our troops are still on the front lines.
Pajama party all night sleep over with zip results.
More time spent trying to discredit this administration in every way possible - time that could be much better spent trying to solve the real problems presently facing this nation.
Yes, they managed an increase in the minimum wage - now the people making minimum will be able to take the bus to work instead of walking - however, they'll still have to walk back if they expect to have any discretionary income at the end of the week.
Is it really any wonder their approval ratings are spiraling off the chart?

Well, honey, that is screwed up thinking... filibusters and presidential vetoes are not stopping the Dem's, poor leadership is. That vote was a show, the Dem's knew it wouldn't pass, just like the rest of the stuff they do, and the minimum wage will do nothing to help low wage earners. lol
gov. Will benefit from it in the way of more taxes.

Within 10 months of President Bush's inauguration, that Congress overhauled the entire American education system with NCLB and signed the Patriot Act into law. Your claim to fame is you "tried" to fix immigration. Trying and coming close is sweet, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
Sooooooooooooooooooo...
Anything else you'd like to "try" to do... I'll find some Republicans, and they'll get it done for you, and fast. Well, its still politics so it won't be Fast fast, it'll just be Faster-Than-Democrats fast.

Our representatives (on both sides) are doing the best job they can for our nation, just with different objectives for doing it.
Most of the public sees a grudge match on WWW.
They see fellow patriots on either side of the aisle serving as gas and brakes depending on which direction we are going as a nation. That's why they end the day at a restaurant with a drink together more often than not.
It's the public, with their limited knowledge and lack of political acumen that devolves into political bigotry most of the time, not our representatives. They play off it because it seems to be all that drives us, and they have more important issues than educating the lot of us that didn't pay attention in elementary and high school.
Good post.
I don't agree with their public statement of trying to set a public date.
Good post, anyway.

Like it or not, the Dems in Congress are not the Commander in Chief. The can cut off the funding like they did when victory was at hand during Vietnam. This is nothing more than playing to the far left base. They know it won't get the votes. That's what they are counting on.

And -- perhaps most important-- steadily grinding away at the neocon stranglehold on the Repubicans in Congress. The general consensus among political analysts now is that a majority--perhaps as much as 80% -- of the GOP in Congress want a withdrawal--but are still under the thumb of the right-wing. When they get loose. . . .

Like Kucinich said, they could bring them all home tomorrow if they pulled the plug on spending and used what was going to this war to bring the soldiers home. They don't need another bill for the GOP to vote down. They need a new pair of balls to do the right thing..
