Under the separation of powers, the president is supposed to work with the legislative branch, not stonewall it.

This president and vice-president have instead acted like monarchs; they started domestic NSA spying without getting a warrant from a judge; Bush has altered legislation through signing statements without consulting with the legislative branch; he has allowed prisoners to stay indefinitely at Guantanamo Bay without any chance of being charged with a crime or going to court, he has made Cheney the acting foreign policy president, and I could go on and on.

There is supposed to be a series of checks and balances between the executive branch and the legislative branch. Bush and Cheney claim their positions of power are above the law; they treat Congress as irrelevant.

If Congress does not hold these two to account, it will perpetuate this misuse of the presidency into the future.

We cannot just sit this presidency out; we risk permanent damage to the Constitution!

murder is against the law because it is considered immoral by most people. however, i'm sure there are some people who would not have any problem with making murder legal (i mean, just because something is legal, doesn't mean everyone is gonna go around doing it), but just because it's not a problem with those people doesn't mean the law is gonna change.

so, why is abortion not illegal? a lot of people consider it is just as immoral, if not more-so, as murder.

what do you think about this?

if you think that morals aren't the only reason for murder being illegal, then just point out what is and i'll take that into consideration.

If something major had happened while Bush was under that anesthetic and Cheney was acting president, who would've received credit for the handling of such an event, Bush or Cheney?

The state law says no guns in government buildings, post offices, public parks, or schools. But it says you can carry a gun on you in public on a gun belt clearly displayed but it can't be loaded with bullets. You need to keep the bullets in the other pocket. So, can someone bring a gun with them in the store? At the shopping centers? malls? Restaurants? Public sidewalks, beaches, and deep woods? Note: I'm refering to what the law states you can do without the concealed weapons permit.

I think giving power to the individual state makes the residents of that state feel more secure about the desicions being made there but I also think giving them more powers will make our states less united because we would not all function under similar laws which will drive states apart. Do you think it is better to give more power to a central government or to the states?

I am opposed to illegal immigration. How does this translate to me being a racist? Any feedback will be welcomed, thanks

I am insured and visited the ER to get a wound stitched. I didn't have my insurance card with me, but I told them as much information as I knew. A couple weeks later a bill to my father's name was sent to my parents house. He was listed as my emergency contact, but they knew I was an adult and I see no reason why the bill shouldn't have been sent to me. (I am 22 and live in a separate residence). Is there anything illegal about this?

I hear someone said that if a portion of my land, my yard for example, is not fenced or posted "no trespassing" sign then I will lose control (i.e. can't do anything on that land) of that portion after seven years.

Do you think it needs replacement?

Have you read it... not in school, but on your own, out of curiosity?

Do you care about it?

Please answer these questions in order with only a yes or a no.

Thanks. This is for a statistics experiment and your simple cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

Suppose incident occurs in Oct 2008 - too late to choose new candidates before Nov election and too late to print new ballots/program new names in voting machines. Can Bush stop the election by decree? Someone said the House Speaker becomes President at end of his term (jan 09) , but what if Bush cited the terrrorist threat and refused to leave office? Would this Supreme Court actually rule against him?

My husbands crazy ex wife is filing for child support. but heres the screwed up part its not his child. he was overseas when she had the baby by a different guy and they were separated living in different states when as well. so her and he boyfriend , who by the way signed the birth certificate, broke up. so we get a phone call about a month ago saying that she was filing for child support but she need our address so my husband could fill out some paper work saying he wasn't the father. so the real father could take a dna test. ok that was all fine and dandy but the paper work has never came. so my question is, is there really extra paper work that he would need to fill out? and just in case she is trying to say my husband is the father what can we do to stop her? and is there anything he can do pro actively to stop her from filing it on him? Since he his Air Force and his dna is on file could they submit it to the state for him?
