I am happily married to a Latina. (Colombian) She came to US through LEGAL means before we met. She lived in Colombia when we were married but she had permenant residency in the United States.
I am opposed to illegal immigration. How does this translate to me being a racist? Any feedback will be welcomed, thanks

Being against illegal immigration is not racism. But, too many do not seem to understand that the real criminals are not the illegal immigrants at all. The real criminals are those large corporations that invite them here, and in some cases smuggle them into the country, for the purpose of exploiting the cheap labor. The real criminals are also the top level government officials in Mexico, that allow conditions for the poor people of Mexico to remain so deplorable that such exploitation is attractive to the illegals. The illegals are lied to and promised better lives. They cannot really be blamed for wanting better lives, and for wanting to believe in the lies they are being told. In order to stop this problem, we have to understand the real cause, and we have to penalize the real criminals where it hurts...in their bank accounts. Only a truly non-elitist government that actually puts the best interests of ALL of the people ahead of any profits, will ever be willing to penalize the REAL criminals! *sm*

it is the illegals and those that support them tat call anyone against the illegals that scream racist.
it is the last hopeless cry of a group of people who want something for nothing.
since they have no good arguments for themselves they will try using this as a means to hopefully shut you up.
they think that if they label someone a racist then that person will be to scared to have their voice heard.
well Americans have been called this so much that it has little affect anymore.
even if you are a racist ... and i am not saying you are... illegal immigration is still a crime and since it is a crime then the illegals shoud be treated like the criminals they are.

It's a strategic tactic to silence anyone who opposes those who care little to nothing about his great nation.
Some non-hispanics do inculcate hatred and say mean spirited things in opposing illegal immigration. They could be racist, for if it looks like a dog and barks like a dog-it is porbably a dog.
However, this is not you. If you truly hated hispanics, you would have not married your wife.

You're not racist at all. I'm a Hispanic woman and married to a Hispanic man and we are both opposed to the illegal immigration reform. Our families came to this country legally, everyone else should have to do the same.

I am black and i oppose to illegal immigration in any country of the world. It's breaking the law. It doesn't make me racist though and it certainly doesn't make you racist either.

Guess what? In our U.S. history there were many times when immigration was halted by congress due to too many foreigners at one time. It is now the time to reestablish the old rules of immigration and stop allowing politicians to buy votes from new citizens that didn't legally come here in the first place.

Practically everyone is opposed to illegal immigration--that does NOT make you a racist.
What makes someone a racist is stereotyping people--smearing them and spreading lies. You dont have to look very far to see some lurid examples of this.
Also--keep inmind that there is a die hard group on the extreme right that keeps demanding that "all illegals be deported"--and these are the same people that supported a Congress that did nothing to address the growing immigration problem for the 12 years they controlled Congress--and scuttled a conservative reform bill just last month.
And--remember the November elections--and a number of attempts to intimidate Hispanic-American CITIZENS to keep them from voting. Not to mention the recent growth of the KKK.
My point--there is a signifigant group of ppeople out there who are out-and-out racists--and they hate all non-whites, not just illegal immigrants.

You are not a racist, your wife came into the USA legally. The illegals come into the USA by sneaking across the border, "BIG DIFFERENCE". That would be like breaking into someones' home, and saying they were legal for doing so..

The pro-illegals don't have a real argument. I think calling others a "racist" is a wimpy way out. Most of them assume that everyone who is against illegal immigration is white American. Ha! They are so wrong. I am American but not white. I'm 100% against illegal immigration. Don't take things personally. People who call you racist have nothing else to say to defend their stance.

Being against, some issues dose not make you a racist, but on this forum, most anti's attack Mexican, with insults not logic .If you are one of the few that use logic, all well and good. The rest show their racism by their answers.
The fact that some one is married to and Hispanic, does not have any effect one way or another with me, I at one time was married to a white girl it had no effect on how I perceived her people, I respected her as a person and loved her for who she was, nothing else.
