I'm 16 and I might be pregnant and my boyfriend whom is 19 lives in NC....this would've happened while I was visiting there this month....Since the legal consent age is 16 in NC...would the state I live in with the consent age being 18 still press charges against him if I wrote his name on the birth certificate?

Thank you dearly who all answer seriously...

i would think the answer there would be no because the act that led to pregnancy occurred in NC (if the legal age truly is 16 and i don't know if it is or not). i would ask your local police dept or an attorney just in case.

No. However, your parents could be charged with neglect, shearly for the fact that you are 16 and pregnant. Most states just don't bother with that. I STRONGLY suggest that you talk to an attorney. Apply for Civil Legal Aid NOW. You need to know your rights and responsibilities, for your own welfare and the welfare of your baby. It might not be a good idea to place the baby's father's name on the birth certificate, and only an attorney in your state can accurately give you that information. More about your situation will have to be known. Also, if you wish to collect child support, etc. you will need an attorney. You can also be emancipated, and may need to be for some things.
