Michigan law states that a former employer cannot give any information to a perspective employer that could prevent someone from receiving employment. If that is the case, how can a company force an applicant to sign a waiver (to even be eligible for consideration) stating that they grant past employers the right to state positive and/or negative information (whatever it may be) and waive any rights to take legal action in the case of defamation of character or other damages due to refusal of employment based on that information?
If it’s against the law to prevent someone from obtaining a job and stating negative information, there is no way that it should be legal for a company to force applicants to sign a waiver to even be considered. In my case, I had a past employer that harassed me and provided false information about me while being employed (which I proved.) I’m worried that this person is continuing with it since I still haven’t found a job and have NEVER had any issues receiving employment before. My experience is outstanding and I’ve never heard anything negative from other past employers about my performance or personality.

Is there ANYTHING that I can do about this?

Has Bush so insulated himself by associating only with like minded people that he has lost touch? By alienating everyone who doesn't share his worldview has he made it impossible to keep his enemies outside the tent? Is he drowning in piss?

My best friend's fiance is in the bmt for the navy right now. They were planning to get married when he graduates from bmt in April before he goes to school. She heard that couples have to have approval from the navy before they can get married. Is this true and if so how do they go about getting approval. Thanks!

for example, a man was just sentenced to 240 years in prison for committing a hate crime. he's obviously not going to live past something like 120 years, so why was he sentenced to twice that amount?

I'm a disabled Viet Nam Veteran, who just read about the Mold: Bats; Leaky roofs ect., in numerous VA Medical facilities. I can tell you that the VA is not very up front about ,what they provide to veterans if help is needed. I found out about what I qualified for by luckily going to a Barber who was a Korean Vet. There are Veterans living on the street who are either there do to drugs, or due to a possile mental disorder both related to their combat action. I was told by a VA intake officer that there are individuals who have had their limbs blown off who do not qualify for 100 % Disability, why I don't know, but I do know that He was dismissed from his position because of not going along with program.

How can anybody say what Blacks shouldn't recieve, you've never been black and were still going through slavery, just a different form of it. NO i don't wont a hand out, I wont a hand up. I grew up in the hood all my life, and things are still different from the so called white side of town than the black side of town. Go to an all black school, and an all white school and tell me if you see the difference, I do. I grew up with carmel skin, and I know how it feel to have someone look down on you because of that, and to get skipped over because a lot of whites think we wre all the same.I have a flashy car with rims and loud music, but I've work hard to get my house and everything else,and I am a grand daughter of a slave.

What is with all this labeling crap? You have to be conservative if you think this or liberal if you think that. It happend 6 times in last 2 months. when i finish my work 2 o clock in the morning a police car follow me for about 4 miles and then dissapear without stopping me .i really want if they stop me and i tell them that i m not a bad person but never stopped me, what you think ????

I find the entire idea of "hate crimes" to be ludicrous. Have you ever heard of anyone committing a love crime?

Use the laws already on the books. I don't care if the bad guy held hostages because they were a particular color or because Justin Timberlake came to him in a dream and told him to do so. The fact remains he committed a real crime. Making one class of motive less respectable than another is silly. Shooting a bank teller because you're robbing her is more socially acceptable than shooting her because she's black? That makes no sense.

I think this needs to be asked regularly considering that she made all those wild claims when she made her acceptance speech. . . . . . and, afterall, she's OUR Speaker of the House !!
