Canada. Mexico is becoming far too dangerous for Americans. There is a lot of resentment towards Americans in Mexico.

The U.S. government has travel warnings about the dangers of traveling to Mexico. There is a lot of robbing, kidnapping, raping, and killing. Many cities that used to be common for Americans to visit are now overrun by criminals.

Canada also just released a report about the dangers of traveling to Mexico.

However, it is safe to travel to Canada.

What U.S. government says about travelling to Mexico:
"Visitors should be aware of their surroundings at all times, even when in areas generally considered safe. Women traveling alone are especially vulnerable and should exercise caution, particularly at night. Victims, who are almost always unaccompanied, have been raped, robbed of personal property, or abducted and then held while their credit cards were used at various businesses and Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs). Armed street crime is a serious problem in all of the major cities. Some bars and nightclubs, especially in resort cities such as Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Acapulco, can be havens for drug dealers and petty criminals. Some establishments may contaminate or drug drinks to gain control over the patron. "

Also:
"All bus travel should be during daylight hours and on first-class conveyances. "

The exact middle of the geographic country is Lebanon, Kansas.

If I ran from the law, I'd go to Mexico....you'd have a better chance of freedom.

If you ran from the US for political reasons....go to Canada.

It's amazing to hear Americans must be careful in Mexico when their pres is bitching about our fences. Why is this govt bowing down to them again? Border Agents being thrown in jail by pressure of Mex Consuate, why is this govt doing this to US? What's the prize dangling over their heads that is making almost all of them forget their duties? Only D Hunter has the guts to stand up and already the media is on his a$$.

Depending on the time of year. If it were mid spring threw early Autumn I would go north. Winter, late Fall and early spring would be best for the southern route.

Their are less boarder agents along the Canadian line but the terrain is exceedingly more difficult to cross. If I made my route it would be Canada.

Definitely Canada. Better hunting and fishing there. Besides, being from Wisconsin, I can revert back to my old accent so I won't sound like a refugee. :) Fer Cripes!

Whether it is legal or illegal, I would choose Canada. there would be less culture shock (I don't speak Spanish) .& the border is much easier to cross, again, whether legally or illegally. It is also much easier to be lost in the crowd if I was trying to hide.
