I genuinely don't want this to turn into a pit of political venom - but, after reading much material, news articles, watching TV, listening to commentary, for a long time now, I just dont get why G W Bush is president.

I am from NZ - I dont hate the guy - but there seems to be so many things out there illustrating GW's dodgyness - Dodgy big business mates, dodgy oil deals, Haliburton, Enron, his brothers - It all seems to wash off him. What am I not understanding here ?

I would hugely appreciate answers that are NOT along the lines of " you are evil you uber liberal Bush hater ". I am not uber liberal and I am not a Bush Hater - I just want to know how the guy who at least from the outside looks very dodgy, has been elected President of the United States, twice. What am i not getting ?

Just because you have a majority in the Congress, doesn't mean the majority of America is liberal. Many of us conservaitves refused to vote for candidates who were lying about what they really were (aka R.I.N.O.'s). That is why the Dems took control of Congress. And keep this in mind, the three most listened to radio shows in America are Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck. ALL CONSERVATIVES. Coincidence? I think not.

P.S. Mrs. Bill Clinton has NO chance in 2008!

Why do gays have to be so over the top and flamboyant about their sexuality? The clown on here with the pornographic avatar is indicative of the gay community's obsession with being in your face. Perhaps if they worried more about becoming valuable members of society rather than wearing crotchless leather pants to pride parades, more people would take them seriously. I don't wear a t-shirt proclaiming the fact that I like girls, why do they feel I have some need to know their sexual orientation?

We got past the discrimination of African-Americans and the restrictions on what they can do.
But no marriage and no military service allowed for gays, for example?
I think America is too good of a country to be showing such intolerance.
Defend your intolerant views, conservatives.

Hi. I am the executor of a will, along with another person. The will is valid but the codicil (an attached list of bequests) was deemed invalid by the probate office. THe will is very straight forward and leaves the estate to the 4 adult children of the deceased. THe codicil left small token bequests to friends and relatives and £15,000 to be split between 10 people.

As executor should I follow the letter of the law and insist the estate is divided between the 4 adult children, or can I carry out the wishes on the codicil as well?

The 4 adult children want to honour the codicil, but would like the estate divided between the 4 of them, as they then wish to distribute the bequests themselves.

I would like to follow the will to the letter of the law and distribute the estate to the 4 adult children, whereas the other executor wants to distribute the bequests on the codicil and is not happy to sign cheques etc.

Please, can anyone advise me what I should do in legal terms?

I have often admired Reagan for his craziness.
He went to great lengths to build up a nuclear arsenal to match what the Russians did.
He knew there was no sense in it and he prevailed.
I say we give everybody a nuclear weapon.
Make all arms available to everyone, regardless of maturity level.
No more laws and ethics against weapons of Mass destruction.

Hey, I am advocating it for everybody.
To deny it to you would be unethical and I would not want to deny you any right to own a nuclear weapon.

When I say “leader of the free world” I mean any person taking on office in the interests of the public.
It seems that a lot of folks that run for office seem to put themselves up on a higher pedestal than others. Projecting this aura of false confidence that leads us to believe they know what they are doing. Often times we see humans after years of service admit they had made a mistake, I won’t nit pick it. Usually the mistakes are blamed on some type of faulty information. Which brings me to my next question, why is it that they are having a hard time discerning credible information from political band standing?

I don’t know about you, but what I think we need from our leadership is humans with the uncanny ability to sense when someone is pissing down thier back, and knows right away that it isn’t raining. Do you know what I mean?

My friend go in to trouble by applying for B1 while holding a
valid H1.

His consultant in US had fielded H1 petition for 2006 quota and he got
H1 in January 2007. He was planning to travel to US in July this
year. Same time his current employer asked him to file a B1 and went
to Chennai to get his B1. The VO (verification officer) cancelled his H1 without asking him
and told him that his B1 is issued. But when he asked about his H1 visa
cancellation she got bit irritated and told that she is not going to
issue him B1 also....

Now my doubt is:

Can he again try for H1 using my existing petition? It was
approved in October 2006. Is it okay to go for him for H1 interview with
the same petition? If it's possible is there any time line before
which he have to go for the H1 interview? Your advice on this will be a great help.

Corporate earnings are climbing. This is very good news for stockholders. It's great news for CEOs who are earning record bonuses from increased earnings per share. It's good news for the IRS, who will collect more corporate taxes and capital gains tax from stock sales.
Amid all this increased profit, the personal incomes of average Americans is not increasing. Why? Most likely it's because the labor for all this profit making business is being supplied by foreign laborers. The U.S. trade deficit is a good indication of that fact.
So is this expanding U.S. economy a prosperous economy? Will it fund our community schools? Will it maintain our roads? Will it mow the grass in our city parks?
So what is the true measure of prosperity, the health of business or the health of the community?

I am a British citizen and Have been married to an American citizen for eight years now. We have a six year old boy who has dual nationality. Back in 2001 My sister inlaw sponsored me because we were going to live in America. I was approved and had no problems at the Embassy. Whilst in America I was issued with a social security number and passed my driving test. We were only in America for approximately three months when my father in England had several bad strokes. I flew back to England alone to be with him and it was quite obvious at the time that I would be unable to return to America for some time. My wife and son flew back to England about a month later so we could become a family again.
As time passed it seemed the easier option to stay in England for the benefit of my father.

It has now been six years since we came back to England and my father has been doing fine for the last couple of years. My wife is feeling very home sick to say the least. She misses all of her Family in America and has wanted to go back for the last 12 months. The only thing is about three years ago I was out of work for six months due to needing an operation on my hand and on benefit. As my wife is an American citizen and has never wanted to become a British citizen we only had my benefit money to live on. As you can imagine life was pretty tough going all three of us trying to live of my benefit. I was offered a production job and was given a three month trial. During this trial period I was not doing so well with my hand and thought that I wasn't going to be kept on after the three months were up. Foolishly I did not tell the local council that I was working at the same time as claiming benefit for rent and council tax. At the end of my three month trial period I was offered a permanent job with the company and was in the process of writing the local council a letter when I received a letter from the local council stating that I was committing benefit fraud. I went down to the council and offered to pay the amount I owed them but they said it was to late and that it would be going to court. It went to court and I was ordered to pay £10 a month until the debt was cleared and was ordered to do sixty hours community service. This was a very sad moment in my life as I have never done anything illegal before or after this event. I have never even got a parking ticket let alone going to court for benefit fraud. I think deep down my wife is ashamed of me for doing this as she had no knowledge of the situation at the time. I just told her that I was taking care of it. As you can imagine being out of work for six months I had a lot of arrears to catch up on. I was just getting back to normal and informing the council of the changes in my circumstances when I received the letter from the council.

Can you tell me if this situation will stop me from getting a visa to go and live in America again? My wife's sister will sponsor me and my wife is a fully qualified cosmetologist and can start work straight away. I have worked in the printed circuit board and electronics industry for 18 years now and I'm very hopeful that I can find myself a good paying job when I am allowed to work.

My wife is so desperate to go back to her homeland, That I don't want to let her down again if I am unable to go because of my foolishness a few years ago. Our marriage is very strong and we love each other very much and along with my son we are a very happy family and can be of great benefit to wherever we live. The only thing is that her desire to move back to America might be more than it is to be with me and I don't want to force her to choose. Our family in America is very supportive and would love us to come back again.

Thank you in advance.

Tony

If our stupid Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff thinks that homosexuality is immoral and therefore gay soldiers must not serve, then what does he thinks about soldiers who committed adultery and were divorced? As we know, the Bible treats adultery and divorce just as harshly as homosexuality. Did this ever occur to our Clown in Chief?
