Can a person with just a misdemeanor, (not a felony), still apply to be a police officer? The person has just made one mistake, but otherwise is a model citizen. Not even a speeding ticket. I heard that a person with a felony is automatically disqualified no if and or buts.

The US or Israel , I personally think it will be Israel the first bomb Iran tests and then the Jericho Missles are gonna fly. We have been at war with Iran since 1979 so i really think a preimptive strike on our part would be great might as well do it now while we got troops and equipment over there. That president of Iran is nuttier than a fruitcake and hes got the little man syndrome soon as he tactical nukes hes gonna try to nuke Israel for sure. GW needs to get his head out his but and say screw Iraq and take care of Iran now before its too late. Love to hear your feedback

I served 7 years in the military, and its hilarious when military people on yahoo and other sites boast about themselves. The percentage of murderers, rapist, thieves, cons, pedophiles, and just all around bad people are the same in and out of the military.
Like I said I was in the military for 7 years. Only a very very small percentage of people in the military want to go to war for the country, thats just what we say to our parents and the local newspapers to get respect. The reality is your paycheck goes up by almost %50 when you go to war, and thats all we talk about. Me and other %90 werent talking about defending freedom and about our patriotic duty and all that other blah blah, we only cared about the cars we were gonna buy and the bills we were gonna pay off after we got back. So dont let these "military"people on this board talk down you because you didnt serve your country. Most of the time the only reason they retired in the military is because they were financially afraid.

Any ex-military out there who got out early and regreted it...and vice versa...

I can get out now and get a job making about 20K a year more than what I make in the USAF...but if I stay in 10 more years I can still get the job that pays more but I'll also have a retirement check...the question is...do I put up with the military way of life for 10 more years...or get out while the getting is good?

I just moved into a place. My roommates girlfriend has a 3 year old severely mentally retarded daughter. She can't talk, walk, sit up, or make eye contact-she just lays there. Anyway, I would get up sometimes in the night (3am) and I noticed the closet light on. The child was in there, laying down. There is no heat in the closet and it is around 64 degrees in there. The child had on clothes and a very thin blanket and a pillow. (she could stretch out). The light was on. In the 3 weeks since I've lived here, I have encountered this about 5 times. The girlfriend is only over here 3-4 nights a week. What should I do and is this a form of child abuse?

Seems to me that every single working American should pay his or her FAIR SHARE in taxes! Right around 15% sounds fair to me. So if this is what you make, this is what you pay.....

$10,000 per year = $1500 in taxes
$100,000 per year = $15,000 in taxes
$1,000,000 per year = $150,000 in taxes

Seems fair to me! Besides the actual percentage, why would or why wouldn't a flat tax be a good thing in this country???
