my thoughts are than most will be granted amnesty since a very significant number of very important cities do rely on them even if anti-immigrant groups do not agree with this . New York , Chicago , Dallas , Los Angele's , Houston , phoenix and many more have a large population of immigrants and would be very affected by an anti-immigrant outcome , so there is no way that will happen .
it is also important to mention that they have the support of very important groups which include the dominant democrats of the senate and the chamber , the chamber of commerce , Alan Greenspan , plus the support of all who hire them , eat where they work , live where they built and drive where they made a road ...
i also want to mention than the attitude of some anti-immigrants like tancredo who has hired them in the past just shows how serious they are about the issue ... they know they cannot do what they say , they only looking for votes ...

I was brought here when i was 6 months old. My parents are now legal but because of an idot AMERICAN LAWYER's mistake i am 18 and am still illegal. I was reaised here and essentially AM an american. I graduated early an in the first half out of the 800 students that graduated with me. I speak english without an accent and probably speak it better than most "natural" americans. My spanish is horrible even though i spoke it at home I actually have to translate things from english to spanish when i'm speaking in spanish.
So what do you suggest i do? Go back to a country that I have been to in nearly 18 years? Go over there KNOWING that I could possibly die becasue of the constant battling? Take the chance of leaving the place that i call home, for a strange country and leaving it up to the american immigration system to legalize me ? how long would i wat 1 year? 10 YEARS?
You know, people that have this random HATE for immigrants disgust me. I had NO FAULT for the position I am in now. I wish my parents had done it right but I can't change what they did.
I know so many other people in my same situation and in other situations that its not fair to judge them as a WHOLE.
Its like saying all black people are ghetto or that all white people are rich snobs. We just CAN'T do that.
I just pray that a law comes in effect to help those in the same type off situation that i'm in and that i am able to get legal becasue i do want to work here and go to school.

te amo, there is you answer on your other Q.
if they all do like I did, they will do great. I was here illegal for almost 2 years before I got my green card and today I'm a proud American citizen, a homeowner, a business owner (I employ Americans)............
why do people come here?
to live a better life
the difference is, if Europeans come here, to live a better life, they at least have to get a house and a business and that requires to speak English (I couldn't speak no English when I came here). you have to integrate with Americans to make it.
if middle Americans come to this country, in order to live a better life for them (most of them), they have to share a room with 2-5 people (in there home country they lived in a shed), that does not require to speak English. and I think, that's what most Americans don't like, the abuse of the system and the government supports it on top of it.
I have nothing against Illegals, just learn English and try to live like Americans, don't abuse the system.
fair enough?

My thoughts as an intelligent LEGAL immigrant are as follows:
The potential scenarios are few and neither will appease everyone, but the logisitics of some essentially make them still-born ideas.
(A) Round them up and deport them
Result: Serious instability in major US cities with high immigrant populations, mistrust for the Govt, pockets of rebels forming WITHIN the US (especially with the ease guns can be purchased) - a war with the illegals and their supporters. "Terrorist" cells would form to attack the State in the name of liberty. Let's not even imagine HOW you would deport 14 million people
(B) Guest Worker program
Results: The social security and medicare crippled by rise in legal population able to claim benefits, Rewarding of BAD behaviour, Sending message to others that the US will bend backwards and let you stay, thus leading to mass illegal immigration and NO workers leaving after their guest time period is up, Tax revenues increase
(C) Leave them be and shut down the border
Result: Who is here stays and the border is really secured, slowly illegals are brought into the legal fold (they will pay taxes and vote for the politician that sided with them, businesses will love it)
I say C because A is very possible, B sets a bad precedent. That is what i think their future holds - no change in the short-term

Lets say we get them deported, who knows, they just might go home and fight to make the country a better place, kind of like they should have in the first place.

Since Bush is all for the guest worker program, I see them all becoming citizens. And since the military is lowering its standards to the point where criminals can now join up, the recruiters will quite a pool of new " citizens" to recruit and become cannon fodder.

They've ruined their Country now they come to bring ours down. They need to go back where the heck they came from and demand their OWN government give them all these handouts and DEMAND their OWN government to turn their Country around.
They have NO excuse for being here illegally!

My thoughts....I would go more with my prayers than my thoughts, as my thoughts are distressing and my prayers are hope full. I hope my husband gets to stay. I pray he can get a drivers license, a job, and the dignity that he deserves.
I pray my kids get to keep their dad.
I pray that the many people in our lives who are here without proper paperwork also get the dignity, over time, holiday pay, respect and appreciation that they to deserve.
I pray that families are not any more separated (deported) than they have already become!
I pray for the bigotry and hatred to stop. I pray for the lies and the hateful prejudices about Latin Americans ends...unfortunately until we have another group to hate, I doubt it will.

They need to leave and reapply. America simply cannot accommodate every person that wants to come here. Their future is up to them and their countries

My suggestion would be to take money they have made here and just go back to where they came from peacefully. Just an idea however(a wise one).
To swaggs: Do you really want this "new cannon fodder" in your military? They have already shown their unconventional coercive intentions. They just need to go peacefully.
