Jim ... Good point. But here's what I want to know: JFK's most famous line is, "... Ask what you can do for your country," but modern-day "Dems" seem to think he said, "Get all you can from your country."
Thanks, Jim.

FDR and JFK style Democrats (and I'd add LBJ minus the war)
have been so incredibly successful at making America a wonderful place to live most people take for granted the things we've worked and fought for (and some died or had their lives destroyed at the hands of Republicans and their businessman bosses.)
Democrats today still believe in all the same things they fought for in the day, and now we're adding many objectives to the goal of smoothing out even more rough spots to bring about as much equality and opportunity as possible.
Don't judge Democrats by what a Republican says. You know they lie about everything. Ask a Democrat what they stand for. You'll probably be surprised.

They all became corporate democrats like Hilary and Reid. I like Dennis Kucinich and John Edwards of the dems and I like Bernie Sanders of Vermont. The rest of the entire 2 party system is corporate and rich now. Hey, lookie there, so were JFK and FDR. Its time for a couple new parties who are independent to start taking the helm. Perhaps a Green party and an independent party that isn't so pro corporate.
My question for you is where are the Gerald Ford Republicans who had level heads and worked things out. They are gone. The extreme right now runs the GOP. And, we've had enough of their sh*tting on the country and the working people of this country.

nazis were taking over half the world... "japs" attacked us...
two pretty good reasons...
Saddam had WMD... oh wait no he didn't...
we're still here, but you can't just start a war for poor reasons and expect everyone to support it...
I don't think those dems would have supported the war in Iraq... Afghanistan, sure, but not Iraq... and I support our actions in Afghanistan, in fact, I wish we would do more there...
and FDR started many social programs... and JFK supported them and made Clinton look like a choir boy... I think they would fit in just fine...

Believe me, they are still around!
I remember going to the railway station late one evening with my Mom to see the train go slowly through our city with FDR's body bound for Washington after his death in Warm Springs.
I remember JFK, I voted for him twice. I would have voted for Robert also. I'm not dyed in the wool Democrat, but I do know a good man when I see them. Be he Democrat or Republican!

The old time democrats are now the neo cons. They switched over to the republican party around the same time as the Regan revolution (remember, Regan started off as a dem). And there are still real conservative dems, but they have a tendency to vote republican on national elections because they don't care for the DNC's agenda.

There are many left, just as there are still some Reagan-style Republicans out there. But for both parties, the moderates are being drowned out by the extremists, and it's sad.
(Hopefully if grand pa is talking, he *didn't* die fighting in WW2!)
