if some states outpace others in growth say by taking more foreign investment will they be prone to break away from a federal set up or will the federal set up be reinforced with more dilution of powers to the states ?

Secession is valid, per the Constitution. By the way, the states hold all powers not specifically granted to the federal government by the Constitution.

States also hold the right to nullify federal laws that they disagree with because the state governments are legally above the federal government since the federal government is their property.

The only reason that the states aren't granted their rights is because the Supreme Court and other Federal agencies want to keep and increase their own power, so anything that makes the government more powerful is "constitutional" according to the Supreme Court.

The vast majority of the federal government's laws are blatantly unconstitutional according to the plain text of the Constitution.
