I rent one room out of a house; there is one other room that is rented out. My roommate and I feel the same way – we should have access over the temperature in the home. The landlord has placed a door with a key lock on it restricting all access to the bottom level of the house. He maintains a bedroom there, but comes home maybe once or twice a week. Are there any legal restrictions to this?

I am only 22, but I have passionate opinions of the way this country (England) should/could be run. It is not the deep debates that I want to get into, such as war, and other peoples wars...but the day to day events. I have a few suggestions that I think should be implemented: Every car is fitted with headlights (legal requirement), why is it that on motorways where pedestrians are prohibbited from do we need street lights that eat away at your tax money? Flashing amber lights at night so road users slow down, but dont need to sit and wait if nothing is about, a 99p coin, abolishment of the benefit system - the rubbish that needs picking up, the greenery that needs looking after, everyone CAN do something, that rubbishmen earn the same as firemen, that you pay for the bbc without choice, the politically correctness, the flying of YOUR flag, the road tax/fuel tax/tolls-all for the privellage of shoddy roads, the fact that 12,000 can be spent on smoking shelters for hospitals, etc. /Ben

My insurance company is billed by my Dr and they pay a portion of the claim that is a predetermined amount for that type of service.I pay a small portion per visit. And as a discount the Dr office is to "writeoff" a portion.I found they were not deducting the write off from my balance,by carefully reviewing my records. When confronted, the secretary admitted that she knew she was suppose to she just didnt know how much. And admitted she does not deduct the write off from any of the patients balances. These patients are owed that discounted service for seeing an in network provider and I would assume is part of the offices contract with the Ins.co. I feel the financials should be audited, some how.I dont know who to call or if I should call...Is this write off only at the dr offices discretion? If anyone knows who to call in Illinois it would be great!

oil companies are making ALL-TIME RECORD PROFITS... and Republicans don't say:

"hey, maybe they should pay some taxes on it (after Bush basically dropped them all)"... they say "we can't tax them, because they won't pay it, instead they will just raise their prices to keep their profits high"

why don't Repubicans care that these companies clearly care more about money than America... the oil companies could CLEARLY AFFORD TO PAY THE TAXES... so that's not the issue...

they just won't, because they don't have too... Republicans will just blame it on everyone but those that actually should be paying their taxes and have the money to...

what ever happened to civic responsibility in business?

and should I just start passing the buck too?

the oil companies are getting a free lunch right now... and our national debt is paying for it... that's your kids...

Anyone else? I've never seen anything more hypocritical. It's to a point where both parties disgust me thoroughly. Instead of doing what is best for the country BOTH parties go opposite of what the advasary party is for (no matter what). Worse then a bunch of animals.

Think about it,try to think smart for once.Liberals and Dems trash the oil ind.for their high profits, their record profits in order to get the public to think they are evil and they want you to cheer for a tax increase to punish the evil oil giants,so How does that help you?Where does that tax money go? Does the oil price go down?NO.You pay more at the pump for fuel because they pass the taxes on to you and the Goverment gets the tax money that they are taxing from the oil company's. Is it all about feeling good?
